Windows 10: CHKDSK cannot repair my drive

Windows is currently detecting problems on one of my hard drive. I tried several time to repair it with the basic windows option but it is still damaged according to windows. In fact, when I try to repair and restart the computer it doesnt even seems to look for any problem, it does tell me to press a key to ignore the verification, then it says that it is analysing and repairing my drive without showing me the progression and then windows launch like there is no problem. However, when i go to check how is my drive it is still damaged.


I also tried using chkdsk and ran it as administrator and used several option. The exact same thing happened and my drive is still damaged.


I am kind of lost now, I don't know what to do. Should I just reinstall windows ?

The part of process that you are in when updating Windows is the check disk (CHKDSK), the system is checking your drive for errors.

Are you still having the issue and stuck at Scanning and repairing drive process?

As a workaround, you can follow these steps to bypass the CHKDSK process:

• Hold down the power button for 4 seconds.
• The PC will reboot.
• You will get stuck again on the process, repeat step 1.
• You will get a message "press any key to bypass the chkdsk."
• Press any key and it will continue on the update process.

It might be an error on the drive. We suggests that you follow the troubleshooting steps below:

• Run Disk Cleanup utility to clear your junk files.
• Open an elevated CMD type sfc /scannow and hit Enter to run the System File Checker.
  
• Once the scan is completed, restart your computer. Remember to exit ChkDsk
  during boot.
• Next, again open CMD as admin type
  Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth and hit Enter to repair the Windows image.
• Now see if ChkDsk able to complete the scan.

Note: Before doing the steps, make sure you save a back up of your files.
