Windows 10: Chrome History Tabs run amok

WINDOWS 10 Some time ago (years) when you closed your browser your previous searches were not visible. Then came tab browsing, which I like. Lately though I open my chrome browser and I have 37 or more little blue pin wheels representing my previous searches. Problem is they are trying to open those web sites which make it annoyingly sllllooooowwwwww to accomplish my present search. How do I clear those tabs and prevent my history tabs from coming back. I attempted clearing my history by following Google Chromes tips an I even reinstalled Chrome. Everything carried over to the new install. See below:

Could you please help me with the below information:

1. Are you using a USB keyboard or Wireless keyboard?
2. Are you aware of making any changes to the computer prior to the issue?

I suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below:

Method 1: Install Package and Driver.

I would suggest you to go through the article from the manufacturer which talks about
‘The hot keys on Notebook are not functioning properly’.Follow
the step mentioned for Mute/adjust volume.

Method 2: Disable the extensions.

1. Launch Google Chrome and go to settings.
2. Select Tools> go to Extensions.
   
3. Click the ‘Keyboard Shortcuts’ link at the bottom of the page.
   
4. Search for Google Play Music section.
5. Change the option from ‘In chrome’ to ‘Global’ and vice versa.
   

Method 3: Enable Google Chrome.

1. Press ‘Shift+Ctrl+Esc” at the same time on your keyboard, this will open the task manager.
   
2. Go to startup Tab, check for Google chrome.
3. If it is disabled, select the google chrome option and click on
   Enable.

If none of the methods worked, I would suggest you to uninstall and reinstall Google chrome, or Try connecting a different keyboard and check if it works.

Windows + Run history

Hoping to get some help. My issue:

When I access the run function (my preferred method is Windows Key + R) it does not remember any of the commands I enter in it. It does however, seem to pull history from other places. e.g.
If I type winver to check my version/build, the next time I come back and type the first letter w, instead of winver being suggested I get a list of recently visited urls (all which start with w as www.). If I type the letter c a list of files/folders recently accessed on the c drive is displayed and so on.

It appears to be pulling the history from other histories and anything typed in the run dialog is not remembered. I've searched for possible answers but none of the suggested remedies I've looked at have had any effect. I've inserted a screencap of the above mentioned example.
