Windows 10: Chrome not staying pinned to taskbar, always in Recently Added

So something is not right in your account. If you followed the link Shawn provided to remove app, which you just posted, I'm not sure it will correct the disappearing Task bar icon and I'm not sure how you would reset your account to stop this annoying behavior.

You already ran through Shawn's suggestion to reset Taskbar and that did not correct.

With regards to Dencal's post, I assume you are getting Chrome from a google address.

So unless someone has a way to correct this within registry it unfortunately leaves you with few options. The last one I could think of is to move to a new account, something most people don't want to under take. I guess you could make a shortcut on desktop to reduce the impact. (and try dragging that to taskbar to see if it will stick, LOL)

Open Task Manager, under Processes look to see if any Google apps are running, if so click on them and end task.
Switch OFF computer, disconnect browser from power source.
Reconnect browser then restart computer....uninstall Google.....then reinstall.
Now try pinning Google to taskbar.

That unfortunately didn't work either, even dragging the shortcut itself to the toolbar.

I think I've got something. Instead of pinning the shortcut to the taskbar, pinning the program itself seems to work. I've restarted it already, and it's staying there. I'll report back if there's a change in that.

 

So after another restart, it still vanished. I decided to bite the bullet, and delete the user profile and then recreate it from scratch. It also got rid of the issue where, for some reason, uninstalled apps were still showing with no way to remove them.
