Chrome/Window stops autoloading/executing website login credentials

I have several Windows 10 desktops/laptops in the house kept up to date. All run Chrome.

Several weeks ago, I noticed that Chrome no longer prefills and executes my username/password for various websites. Most don't prefill anything, some prefill the two credentials but don't execute them on the fly, and only a couple (Yahoo for example) still seem to load with my login executed and ready to go.

On this same system, I just noticed a secured software package (Turbotax for Windows) now requires I load the security key each time I launch it. It didn't do this back in February when I did the taxes.

Not sure where the problem is. I've cleared the cookies and cache, uninstalled/reinstalled numerous times. So far nothing has fixed this. Don't see anything on the Chrome support forum, and judging from dates, the slow response for inquiries is probably the reason.

    Any ideas??? Thanks.

    John

    Website login

You could either use REALM authentication or just by a webpage form and a db which stores the users login credentials

When you use REALM you will have a protected directory on the server, with a login by a webpage you have to "password protect" your pages

    Hi Keith,

We suggest that you disable Credential Manager before mapping your Drives. Please follow these steps to disable Credential Manager:

    • In the search box type “Services
    • Right click on “Services” and select “Run as Administrator
    • In the Services Window, look for Credential Manager Service and click “Stop”.
    • Restart the computer and go back the Credential Manager Service and set it to “Automatic”.
    • Restart the computer again.

Please keep us updated if you were able to map your drives.

option to change the login credentials on Windows 10 computer

    Hello Ankit,

Thank you for keeping us posted.

We would like to know if you have received any email when you say Microsoft gave me an option to change the login credentials on my Windows 10 computer

Again, please be informed that in order to change the Login ID credentials, you need to access you Microsoft Account at the first place, in this case which would be recovering the Microsoft Account(MSA).

I suggest you to follow the recommended link which was earlier suggested.

Getting back into your Microsoft account if it’s been compromised

Once you recover your MSA, you can refer to the below steps to change the credentials.

    • Login to https://login.live.com.
    • Specify the current Windows live ID and password in the available fields and click
      Sign in.
    • On Microsoft account page, make sure that Overview category is selected from the left pane.
    • From the right pane, click Rename account under Account summary.
    • From the right pane of the next page, make sure that Create a new email address radio button is selected under
      Rename your Microsoft account.

    Hope it helps this time.

    Thank you.
