Windows 10: clean install 2004 iso and update 20h2 current

I have 2004 iso. I want to clean install it and update it to 20H2 current edition. As I am in metered connection, I would like to know what will be the size of download for installation and update.

2004 (19041) and 20H2 (19042) share a common set of system files and cumulative updates. 2004 contains all the 20H2 features, but they are dormant. A small enablement package turns on the dormant features and bumps the major build number up by 1 to 19042. The ISO includes the 2004 system files and the enablement package, so although it says its 19041, if you use it to do a clean install or a repair install you will have 19042 20H2 installed.

This enablement package was also delivered by Windows Update to update 2004 machines to 20H2, it installed like a cumulative update and could be uninstalled like one too. When installed by the 20H2 ISO it cannot be unistalled.

 

1909 Install ISO no longer available (2004 upgrade currently blocked)

Download the ISO from the link provided.

If you still have the boot USB install media for 2004 then open it in File Explorer and delete the contents. Mount the downloaded ISO image file and copy the contents of the ISO to the USB flash drive.

This should now be a boot drive with version 1909.

 

20H2 In-place upgrade cant keep personal settings and files on 20H2 clean install

When trying in-place upgrade on a clean windows 10 pro 64 install I cant keep personal settings and files, only option is to keep nothing.

It says maybe my windows is installed in different folder / older version of windows.

- The same again on a second fresh installation of windows 20h2 on my system.

- Both on SATA drive and on new clean NvMe in RAID 0 config.

- Reseting bios does not help

- sfc, dism, - no change

- windows is installed in default folder

- everything was/is on default

- never had this issues prior to 20H2

- I use latest 20H2 iso version, downloaded multiple times with same results
