Windows 10: clean install of Windows 10 fails

And you tried it with only this SSD installed ? no other SATA SSD/HHD?DVD etc attached and on different Ports ?

I assume the MB sees it just fine then ?

still something weird if the USB Boot Drv is getting Wiped EVERY time you use it......

I am currently using the HDD low format tool doing a full low-level format. We will see how it goes.

As for your idea about giving her my SSD...if only it were that easy. Tried it. I've been trouble shooting on this project for coming up on two months. Any working Hard Drive plugged into this computer refuses to install Windows. I have tried all SATA cables that have come from factory with each "new board." I've tried every RAM stick single loaded into the first slot.

All brand new components. I have sent 3 other boards back to NewEgg (3 z-97e), on my last rma request i submitted to be reimbursed for a different board (the z-97a). The odds of getting 4 bad boards in a row would be staggering...

I am praying this Low level format fixes it. My thoughts are there are blockes loaded on the SSD frozen to MBR that are somehow hidden.

 

Does Mushkin have a Secure Eraze Utility ? it would be faster and Better for the SSD if so.

I'd be trying to RMA the SSD too then , if it won't take Windows....

Is SSD on latest Firmware? ...edit don't see a firmware for Eco3 actually or a Secure Erase Utility

If you do a Secure Erase , you don't need to do the Clean on Boot , as you were doing , you should just be able to use the Next or New Button in Win10 Setup.

If it fails and you try again you will need the Clean instructions but 1st make sure you are cleaning the SSD and not the USB by accident by listing the Disks and then using the number given for the SSD . Perhaps your system sees the USB Key as Disk 0 instead of the 1st (only?) SSD connected and you Wiped the USB ?. It would explain why you have to make a new USB Boot key every time you tried this......

eg:

Boot up Windows Installation USB

On the first screen. Hold down SHIFT + F10. A command Windows will pop up. Type:

diskpart
list disk (get SSD # it maybe 1 not 0 ?)
select disk X (where X=SSD# from above)
clean
exit
exit
Continue with the installation.

You have tried installing Windows 10 on a SSD and on a HDD and both fail? You even tried with different motherboards? Have you tried a new sata cable?

Edit: have you tested your memory?

 

Hey Kbird this is my first attempt of the day today. I used the Low format tool you set to me yesterday. I received the error code "we couldnt create a new partition. Error 0x80004005" when i did this.

Looking into the post now about mushkin parted magic you sent.

 

I orderd two HD one SSD and one HDD. Both refuse to install Windows. I have tried working drives from my pc that have windows on them in my pc and when cleaned and attemptes are made to nistall windows to them on her pc it fails. I have tried 15 different sata cables, all of which i have confirmed to be working on my pc. I have tried 4 different motherboards after RMAing through Newegg. No luck.

Edit: I have tried all four sticks, sets of two sticks, mix and match two sticks, and all four sticks as single sticks. All slots and everything...

 

Is Execute Disable Bit (NX) enabled in the bios ?

it needs to be for Win10 x64 to install

Can you send me all the settings in Bios that are usually needed to be enabled/disabled for Win10 install. Im sorry im such a pleb!

 

Your CPU is capable of NX it just maybe disabled.......though I am not sure why, just trying to think what else could be stopping it , is all.

It will be in the CPU section, probably with SpeedStep and EIST settings , check your Manual as I don't know your MB, but it maybe called XD Bit too.

Some of the first 64-bit CPUs don’t have the required features to run 64-bit versions of Windows 10, even if they are 64-bit compatible. Specifically, Windows 10 requires PAE, SSE2, and NX. Microsoft has more information about this here. PCs will also need support for CMPXCHG16b, which some of the first consumer 64-bit processors didn’t include.
The 64-bit version of Windows 10 will refuse to install if your CPU doesn’t support these things. If you’d like to check before you begin the install process, download and run CPU Z.
“SSE2” will appear under Instructions if it’s supported. “EM64T” or “AMD64” should indicate that PAE is supported. “VT-x” or “VT-d” always indicates that NX is supported.

On some older computers, you may have to enable NX (sometimes called XD) in the computer’s BIOS. If you receive an error about your CPU not being supported during the install process, visit your computer’s BIOS and look for an option titled something like “No eXecute bit (NX)”, “eXecute Disabled (XD)”, “No Execute Memory Protect”, “Execute Disabled Memory Protection”, “EDB (Execute Disabled Bit)”, “EVP (Enhanced Virus Protection)”, or something similar. Look under the “Security” or “Advanced” tabs somewhere in your BIOS for this setting.
