Windows 10: Clicking address bar problems w/ window 10

...When I click on any clickable highlighted 'href', ...ex. 'to click on to enter a user name or password' ,....It's suddenly bring up to an advertisement page some product I once was viewing,... similar to what happens when you're on Facebook and you are bombarded with advertisements of what you once looked at.....but this is the entire desktop page,....... very annoying. Am I under attack or is it some kind of setting in window 10?

IE11 address bar suggestions

Hi,
Go to Internet Options, click Autocomplete Settings in Content tab, tick "Suggesting URLs" box and click OK.

Windows 10: In the new version of Windows, Explorer has a section called Quick Access. This includes your frequent folders and recent files. Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Microsoft Edge Address Bar

Hi Zach,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community. We appreciate your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to follow the below steps to open actual address of websites with short forms as you wish:

• Open Microsoft Edge, click on More actions(...) at the right top corner.
• Click on View advanced settings, under Search in the address bar with
  click on down arrow.
• Choose <add new>, try to add the default website.

Secondly, as opening pages in new tab is set by design, I suggest you to provide this as a feedback.
