Windows 10: Clone C: 860 SSD to new 970 NMVe using samsung migration tool.

Afternoon all. Windows 10 pro version 20H2. OS Build 19042.804
So I purchased a new Samsung 970 EVO plus NVMe 500GB drive. My intention was to migrate C: to the new 970 for faster speeds. Initially the migration worked in a fashion.
I looked in drive manager to see my new 970 drive has been allocated a drive letter H. Now I have C: which is bootable and in good order.and the 970 drive has the fully working clone but has H as the drive letter.

Now my goal was to have H drive become C drive. For some reason that did not work out. In the bios I have set the 970 as primary boot order and C drive as secondary boot.

SO to try explain more here are some images of where my drives are at the moment. thanks for your help

HDD to SSD Samsung 860 EVO Data Migration Error Failed. 99%

Hi,

Current computer is a Dell Inspiron with intel core i7 Windows 10. It has a 1 TB hard drive with 16 GB ram.

I'm trying to Clone my current HDD to my new SSD Samsung 860 EVO, but it gets stuck at 99% and I keep on getting an error code of:

Windows 10 isn't recognizing new SSD

Hi Tubbytime, I would do this before I clone the Samsung EVO 860 SSD.

1. Format the new Samsung EVO 860 SSD for a start. After that:

2. Go to Control Panel and select 'Administrative Tools' and select 'Computer Management' then select ' Disk Management'

3.Then see if your formatted SSD is showing in the list of Drives either in position Disk 0 or Disk 1 and is 'Online"? If not 'Online, make it 'Online' otherwise it will not be usable?

4. Right click in the empty disk space and select 'Simple Volume' and do nothing else.

Then go back and start your cloning process using the Samsung Data Migration Software, which you can download Online in Google or from the Samsung.com website

You have not formatted and installed your Samsung EVO 860 SSD looking at the comment you have posted!

BSOD after using Samsung Migration tool cloning Samsung SSD 840 Pro to Samsung 860 PRO

I recently purchased a new Samsung 860 PRO 512GB 2.5 Inch SATA III Internal SSD (MZ-76P512BW) and after cloning using Samsung Migration tool I get the BSOD showing STOP: 0X00000101...

I tried to use the old SSD 840 PRO and get the same result. BSOD occurs after entering user profile password and before complete boot to Desktop for both SSD drives now (yes I ensured each drive was independently plugged in when booting). What happened?
Cloning should not affect the original drive right? I have tried Safe Mode and can boot to desktop but rears its ugly head in safe mode when moving through directories. I've also seen the BSOD show 0X00000124. Not sure what's going wrong. I suspect a driver
is corrupted somewhere.

Can anyone help?
