Clone To A Larger SSD With Macrium Reflect

    I guys.

I am about to clone to a larger SSD, and I don't want to leave any unallocated space.
There are 3 partitions there. System Reserved, Operating System and a Recovery Partition on the right which the Windows installer must have created as I built the computer myself. Do I need that Recovery Partition? If I do, can I put the operating system on the right so I can extend it to maximum to avoid unallocated space?

The last time I did a clone, I had to use a third party partition tool afterwards to extend unallocated space because my OS partition wasn't adjacent to the unallocated space because of the Recovery Partition.

Below is a screenshot of the drive in Disk Management, and the Reflect clone window. Do I need that one on the right?

MiniTool says the Recovery Partition can be deleted safely.
I don't even know what it would contain on my drive.

    :)

    Cloning a SSD Drive

Want to Clone my Win10 Home 64bit HDD to a SSD Drive. I did this with a previous Win7 HDD and used the Free Version of Macrium Reflect Version 5.x...and it was easy and simple to install and the cloning process was easy to follow.

I tried to install that same Reflect Version on my Win10 PC and got you are attempting to install a 32bit version of the software on a 64bit OS....so I did not proceed, not even sure it would have installed.

I went to the Macrium Site to look for the 64bit Free Download, it showed version 6.x. I downloaded that version; the site did not show a selection for 32bit...or 64bit.

When I started the Install of Reflect 6.x it showed the following downloads 1) Reflect Installer 2) PE Components.

Seems what you download from the Macrium site is not the Cloning software....its a Starter app to download the Reflect software and install it.

I did not proceed, I know nothing about what is meant by PE Components. I also would not be using this software for any type of Backup and Restore....that is why Macrium 5.x was nice to use.....you were not, or at least I thought I was not downloading and
installing Components that I would never use.

Did not see an option to customize install....and not knowing what PE Components is\Does....and that all I wanted to do was Clone my Win10 Home 64 Bit GDD to a SDD Drive....and nothing more I have not proceeded to Install Reflect Cloning Software.

Do I just Install Reflect with the PE Components....I don't Think?? I need? What are the PE Components (I always feel if I don't know what something is I probably have no use for it).

Is there a better Free Download Cloning Software that won't install stuff I will never use and is as easy to perform the Cloning process as was Reflect ver5?

    Macrium Reflect and SSD drive

Here's an easy way to do it, With your SSD connected.

    1. If not already done. Create a backup image of your current Windows HD. From Macrium, click on "Create an image of the partition(s) required to backup and restore Windows"
NOTE: you could actually clone the disk, but create a backup then restore will allow Macrium to correctly align the cluster size and perform trimming on the new SSD.
    2. After step 1 is done, click on Restore tab, select the image from step 1 then click on Select different target disk, select the SSD as destination disk then click on Next->Finish. No need to use/boot from Rescue disk. It will be faster and Macrium will also perform trimming on the new SSD.
    3. Disconnect the HD and reboot. Windows should boot up with the new SSD.

Clone To A Larger SSD With Macrium Reflect

Cloning from a bigger hard drive to a smaller SSD with Macrium Reflect

I am working an HP computer with Win 10 x64 Premium with all the latest updates and Macrium Reflect 7.1.3317 Free Edition.

I would like to clone my C drive, the only internal hard drive, to a small external SSD (then I will swap them physically):

I click "Clone this disk", choose the SSD as the destination, click "Next" and get "Not all copied. Insufficient space."

I then chose the last partition above on the destination disk, clicked "Cloned Partition Properties", and resized it to make 19GB of free space (my reasoning: 19 > 0.98+17.70):

Then, whether I clicked "Copy selected partitions" or "Next", the same "Not all copied. Insufficient space." error pops up. How do I proceed please?
