Windows 10: Comcast gateway with Belkin N300

Hello
I tried to bridge the Comcast gateway and plug my router into one of the four ports;
one has the printer ethernet cable, one goes to the pc and 2 are open(I plugged the router into one of the open ones).
I was able to open the Belkin but was not able to get internet. Comcast network dept. said I did it ok but no internet is not ok. I tried to change the lower rt of the task bar = internet to the same settings as the router with no luck.
Do you have any ideas?

Downloaded windows 10 and now belkin n300 router will not work. Any suggestions?

Is a Belkin N300 High Performance Wi-Fi USB Adapter compatible with Windows 10 Pro. I seem to be having issues with the installation.

once the gateway is in bridge mode, only port 1 is active . Try plugging your belkin into the port labelled "1" on the Comcast modem.

 

I saw the device in the lower left but could not establish connectivity. The light also stayed orange. I walked through with the Comcast tech and she said I did it all right. It always worked when ever I visited any one with just a modem.
It seemed the Wi-Fi never stopped in the gateway as I could always access it with 10.0.0.1 but never could get the other with 192.168.1.1.
I stopped Wi-Fi in the gateway and saved it. I enabled bridge. I rebooted. I power cycled the router -Belkin.
Nothing seemed to detach from the Comcast router.
I am back on Comcast. Very sadly.

 

I understand that you logged into the admin pages for your comcast modem and set it up for bridge mode. That's fine and you did that properly. But then, you said you then plugged the Belkin into one of the two remaining ports on the back of the Comcast modem. According to the Comcast support pages, that is where you went wrong. You must specifically plug the Belkin into port "1" of the Comcast modem. If it's already in use by the printer or pc, unplug that cable and plug the cable from your Belkin router's port usually labelled WAN or Internet into port "1" of the Comcast modem. If that works, you should then move the printer and pc network cable into one of the free ports on the Belkin to put them on the network.

 

I paid attention to your comment in post #2 and did plug the router into port #1.
I reset the Belkin router to factory as I had it set up personally for when I visited, but to no avail.
I was going to call Comcast to ask why, after disabling Wi-Fi and enabling bridging, the SSID for Comcast still showed up but ran out of gas for the day. I am not sure how much they know even in a special dept.
I wish I could have succeeded as I noticed they had 2 SSIDs for me; one I made and configured @ 2.5 GHz and the other Comcast made by default @ 5 GHz. The girl said I disabled theirs ok but it could not be removed - I spoke with a person a few months before I moved and he deleted it.
I don't feel comfortable with this set up as far a privacy goes.
I would not want to get a separate phone and also modem to run with my router as I am "bulk" at leisure World and get a good break on the triple play.
Do you think my Belkin N300 is the issue?

 

The attachment could be the reason as I do not remember the gateway rebooting as it says at the top.. I could be wrong but I am 80% sure.

 

Go ahead and reboot it as you can always log back in and reverse the bridge mode if you need to. I don't know of any reason why the Belkin router should be of issue. What model of the Belkin are you running?

 

When you click on enable bridge and the router in the gateway does not reboot, how do you reboot.
I am now sure that is why I was still in the gateway and not my router b/c there was no reboot.
I am watching a grandchild today so no access but will likely be able to resume tomorrow.

 

In that image in post #6, it says if the modem does not reset on its own, "briefly press the button on the back panel" of the modem

 

Yes, I noticed but mine does not have a button.
I read someone say to unplug the gateway briefly but am not sure that is a good idea. For some reason it should reboot after enabling bridge but does not and that is the key to stopping so I can enable my router. I will work on it again when home.

The following you likely read but I see no boot after enabling. You are redirected and sign in again which I did not do. I will.

After bridge mode is enabled, all wireless capabilities from the gateway cease to function and only port 1 on the back of the gateway should be active.<<
