Windows 10: Compare performance between 12gb ram 8gb + 4gb and 8gb ram 4gb x 2

Hi everyone who read this post, I have a question about compare performance about ram. Please say which is better choice 12gb ram 4+8 gb or 8gb ram 4x2 gb about gaming, work like office, coder, virtual machine, etc. Thank you so much. All the ram is same as about speed bus, cas, design amount chips of ram, ranked ram, just different memory storage.

Windows shows 8GB RAM installed but 4GB RAM is usable

Hi There,

I've just upgraded my pc from 4GB RAM to 8GB RAM. Windows seems to have detected this upgrade but why does it show as only 4GB RAM available. The following is what I have tried so far with no luck:

• I have tried the msconfig method on ensuring maximum memory is not checked.
• physically removed the new RAM and reinstalled it

Any thoughts/suggestions on how i can resolve this matter?

Can I upgrade to 8GB (4gb * 2) Ram?

My Motherboard is - Gigabyte H55M-D2H,
Processor - Intel Cor i3 (2.93Ghz)
Using Windows 10 pro 64 bit.
My current ram is 4GB ddr3 1333mhz (2gb * 2).
Will my system support 8GB ddr3 1333mhz (4gb * 2) ram?

 

4GB Ram vs 6GB Ram

12GB of RAM is not a very good solution. Except for some obsolete triple channel setups it has some disadvantages. Dual channel is important and would work (if at all) only for the size of lower amount, for instance 8GB + 4GB would work only for 4 + 4 configuration leaving 4GB out of sync and lowering overall performance.
Mixing RAM can have bad consequences and may not work at all.
Best way would be to get a pair of 8GB modules of highest frequency and lowest Cas Latency an MB and CPU would support. Only then you would see good performance increase.
