Windows 10: Completely locked out of my Windows 10 laptop

I have been trying to get into my windows 10 laptop. Sadly I must of forgotten my trickly password combo and I can't login. I've tried rebooting into Safe mode but when I get the Windows 10 Boot Screen > Advanced Options it doesn't give me an menu to change the options it only states the options and to Restart. Which just leads me back to the login screen. If I try Advanced options> Command prompt to enable the Admin account it cycles and then prompts me to login with my account???!!!! is there anyway to get this thing to boot into command prompt without logging in? if I could do that I wouldn't need the option?


I haven't tried Reset this PC option of reinstalling Windows while keeping my data.


Other options or any verified good password reset apps out there?

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.
