Windows 10: Comprehensive streaming audio problems

I am having a consistent completely random streaming issue on my PC. A few things to get right out of the way:

Yes I’ve restarted/shutdown devices/programs associated in every conceivable way. Sometimes helps, sometimes doesn’t, never permanent fix (obviously)

I can not pinpoint when it started happening. Maybe for 2 months? Maybe a little less?

The issue: I first noticed this issue with streaming “podcasts” on I heart radio. I would press play, the symbol would turn from play sign to pause. Then nothing would happen. I could leave it like that for five minutes. Nothing. I could still browse the Internet with no issues, and my service is exceptional.

Then the issue moved from podcasts to YouTube. I hit play. Nothing. Spinny wheel but nothing loads. I could hover my mouse over the playback bar and literally watch the whole video by gently moving the course along (via the preview mini video) but it just wouldn’t play.

Finally, the weirdest part, my Amazon music app has started doing this same thing. Not through a browser, but the physical program itself. I hit play, infinite spinny loading thing, play sign turns to pause sign, no sound and the timer never moves from 0:00. This is the most bizarre thing I’ve ever encountered.

I tried switching from chrome to Firefox, same intermittent issue. Firefox to edge. Same.

Since it is random I can trouble shoot it and eventually things start working again, sometimes not.

Any ideas? Windows 10 up to date. Home built PC from like 3 years ago. Can give specific details for things on request.

Audio Flipping sides problem

I appreciate the steps you have performed. Let’s try simple steps and check if this helps. Follow the below steps provided.

Step 1.

I would suggest you to run sound audio troubleshooter, it will automatically detect the problem and fix it. Follow the below steps.

• 
  Press Windows key + R and click on
  Control Panel.
  
• 
  Click on View by: category and click on
  Small icon.
  
• 
  Now click on troubleshooting and click on
  Hardware and Sound.
  
• 
  Click on Playing Audio and Click on
  Next button.
  
• 
  Click on Advanced on the Audio troubleshooter dialog box and click on Run as administrator (Enter the credentials if required).
  
• 
  Click on Next and follow onscreen instruction complete the Audio troubleshooter.
  

If the issue still persist, try the below steps.

Step 2.

I suggest you to set the headset as default and check.

  Right click on the on the sound icon on the Windows taskbar.
  
• 
  Click on Sounds and click on Playback
  tab.
  
• 
  Click on the headset and set it as default by clicking on the
  Set default button.
  
• 
  Now click Apply and OK.

Audio Problems

Hi there SimonWildZX, I will be your Independent Advisor for today, I hope we can both resolve your problem.

May I suggest to completely uninstall all Audio drivers listed in the Device manager including the headset. Please make sure to completely remove.

Here is how to do it.

Here the steps to completely remove a Device off your computer.

Step 1. Use shortcut keys Win + X on Windows 10.

Step 2. Select Device Manager.

Step 3. Expand the entry Sound and Audio devices. Right-click the problematic device and select Uninstall device.

Step 4. You may need to check the option Delete the driver software for this device, and then click the Uninstall button.

Step 5. Reboot the computer.

Repeat the steps in all the Audio devices listed.

Then reboot. then test the headset again.

 

Problem recording streaming audio in Windows 10

I am having a problem recording streaming audio in Windows 10 on one computer. I am able to record streaming audio on another computer using Voice Recorder (I used to use Sound Recorder before Windows 10), but not on this one. Both have Realtek sound card.
Any suggestions (every time I try to set up Voice Recorder on this computer it seems to want to set up an external microphone).
