Windows 10: computer and printer disconnect

Windows 10 recently ran an automated update. The computer to printer connection is now disabled and nothing can be printed, including the Test Page. Until the update was installed there was no printer communication difficulty. The printer IP address is at the default sequence. I removed all printers and re-installed the printer. The computer displays the printer default IP address correctly, but they still do not exchange data/print. What can be done?

What and all steps have you tried so far?

Restart the computer and check.

Also, check for Windows updates.

I suggest you to run the Printer Troubleshooter and check if it helps.

  In Search window type Troubleshooting and click on it to open it.

  Click on Hardware and Sound.

  Then click on Printer to run the troubleshooter. Follow onscreen steps.

Check that the printer is installed and in the "Ready" state: To do this, follow these steps:

• Start button> Control Panel> Printers.

• Disconnect the printer from the power button and turn it on again.

• Print the document again.

If the problem continues and you cannot print, uninstall the printer, restart the computer and reinstall. Through the following steps:

• Insert HP Officejet 5740 CD or search for devices in Windows, and then click Devices and Printers in the list of results.

• Click on Add a printer.

• Click on Add a local printer.
