So last night, I was trying to download a game onto an sd card. I forgot to keep my computer open so the download didn't finish and I had to restart it. When I restart it, I thought it was going to be downloaded to the wrong location so I cancel the download. This caused File Explorer to freeze it had that white hue to it and I couldn't close it properly or open other things on my computer So I shut my laptop off.

When I turn it back on, my desktop has the default background, everything I had manually moved to my desktop isn't there anymore, the nightlight mode was off, and none of my apps remembered me using them. All my one note notebooks were closed, my microsoft word has no recent documents, and I was signed out of everything including web browsers. Oddly enough, I don't think anything was deleted.

    So what happened?

    :)

One computer cannot access other network computers.

So I've tried every troubleshooting step I know:
    • Double checked that Net Bios was enabled
    • Ran a bunch of network commands:
      • flushed DNS
      • registered dns
      • pinged and located the named computers successfully
    • Reset my router to factory settings

Nothing works when I try to access via explorer. I'm still baffled by the fact that every other computer can access each other AND access this computer. It's just the outgoing connection from this machine that doesn't work.

    Any thoughts?

    Computer basically reset itself.

How do I reformat entire computer?

Thanks Rich and dalchina. I'll concentrate on that option.

Will that also convert my disk from dynamic back to basic, or do I need to do that as a separate step prior to installing Windows?

    ADDED LATER:

    1. Booted from USB
    2. did not get the screen shown in the tutorial
    3. Options from USB Boot = Choose an option -> troubleshoot -> reset this PC -> remove everything-> all drives-> fully clean the drive -> There was a problem resetting your PC
