Windows 10: computer freezing, closing windows, slow

over the last week my laptop has been closing open windows,freezing, typing is so slow i'm a sentence behind and then it stops printing. forget Facebook. it will show 2 posts and then nothing. this inspirion is only 18 months old and i'm ready to toss it. cannot do the windows 10 update due to :Some update files are missing or have problems. We'll try to download the update again later.

Windows 10 slow and freezes

Corrupted hard drive, too many backgrounds programs, outdated drivers, hardware conflicts, etc. are some of the reasons why a Windows computer is running slow and freezing. To isolate the issue, we'd like to know if you have made any recent changes on your
device (e.g. installation of a software or program) before the issue started.

In the meantime, we suggest performing a clean boot. Refer to this thread and follow
