  1. Computer icon in system tray says 'Not Connected'

I have installed Office 365 on my computer. However, when I go to activate it on Word, it says it can't because I'm not connected to the internet. This is a problem with my device that I can't figure out how to fix. I am connected to WiFi and can access anything online. However, my computer icon shows I am not connected. It's usually not a problem because nothing is limited online. But, anything directly tied to my device Word, Microsoft Store, etc. won't access internet features because it says my device is not connected to the network. For example, apps won't download because it says my device isn't connected. In the past, I've been able to circumvent this issue when Word says I need to go online to verify my subscription by downloading the troubleshooter. Twice I have done this and it easily verified my account. However, this time it is not working. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Office 365. How can I activate/verify my account?

    • Click on System> Notifications & actions.

and also click on Turn system icons on or off

  3. Connected to internet but system tray says no connection

    My setup:

    Windows10

    Asus RT-N660U

    Direct LAN connection

    Comcast ISP and DNS

I am online and posting this from the impacted system, so I am clearly online with a connection. For some reason, Windows system tray says I have no internet connection (yellow triangle icon) and Windows store and other apps (Xbox live) aren't able to connect/authenticate.
Windows Store shows my profile in the top right corner but encounters an error at sign-in (0x800704cf).

When I noticed the yellow icon in the tray I tried the following:

    - ran the recommended network troubleshooting steps

    - power cycled modem and router

    - flushed DNS cache

    - updated drivers

    - disabled/re-enabled the LAN adapter

    - disabled the wireless adapter (this PC doesn't have a wireless card)

    - ran wsreset.exe

    - configured router to Google DNS

    - ran a factory reset on the router

    - disabled Windows Defender firewall (using other security)

What else can I do to resolve this? I don't remember changing anything specific and everything appears to be on current versions.

    Any help is greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!!

  4. Computer icon in system tray says 'Not Connected'

System Tray Icons Don't Stay in Tray and Instead Keep Moving Up Into "Off Icons"

I tried this suggestion to keep the tray icons I want in my tray THERE

instead of moving up into the icons box at the system tray arrow.

I tried these instructions listed on this site in answer to the same question:

    1. click Start.

    2. Type Customize icons.

    3. click Customize icons on the task bar.

    4. Click Turn system icons on or off.

    5. Set the icons that you want to On.

    6. Click ok.

That works, but not for long.

    Then the problem repeats.

I'd like a solution that keeps the icons I select IN THE TRAY till I change them,

even if I power on or off.

The solution seems like it should be simple, but it's not.

To save you time helping me:

I've researched the other threads, and I will not change the Registry,

or create a new account, or do another
    System File Checker (SFC),

or try the solutions listed in those other threads that did not result in a solution,

so please do not propose those.

Do you have an idea that might work? Would love to hear.

    Windows 10, updated.
