Windows 10: Computer keeps black screening if i play a game with a controller plugged in.

Unable to play video games on Windows 10, black screen after log-in screen

Do let us know the following to assist you better with this issue:

• From where are you trying to play the video games (downloaded/ from website)?
• If you are playing games from website which browser are you using?
• Were you able to see any error code/ error message when the game crashes?
• Are you able log-in to your computer?

This issue might have occurred due to corrupted/ outdated display drivers.

As you see black screen while logging to the desktop, I suggest you to refer to the below Microsoft article about this issue, try the troubleshooting steps and check if it helps.

Also, I suggest you to install all the pending updates on your device.

Steps:

• Connect to the internet.
• Press Windows key and type
  updates.
• Click on Check for updates.
• Under Windows Updates, click on
  Check for updates.
• Try to install the updates being shown.

Any controller I plug in makes the screen go black

Just a week ago I was able to play games both with the keyboard and mouse and Xbox one or ps4 controllers. But recently whenever I plug in either of those controllers the screen goes black except for the mouse cursor. This happens even on the desktop before
a game is booted up.

I also tried connecting the ps4 controller via Bluetooth because that has worked before and it still went black proving that it isn't just a USB problem.

Sometimes after it goes black I can hear the Windows 10 notification sound as if there is a prompt waiting for me to answer but I can't do anything at that point.

Any help is appreciated.
