Windows 10: Computer not connecting to a wifi that works while connecting in ubuntu with zero problems

I've been having the following issue :


My computer 6QE leopard pro with an old i5 and a gtx 950M simply DOES NOT see the wifi I have at home. Phones iPhone xs, old huawei, Samsung and another computer on windows 10 too are all working fine detecting the wifi and connecting to the internet.


My computer also connects to other wifi's, and can even connect to my phone that REPEATS the internet connection of the wifi i have at home. Updated network drivers, tried stuff on internet, computer just doesn't see the wifi AT ALL. On UBUNTU on my dual boot the computer sees the wifi and connects and uses it to get a stable internet connection so it's not a wifi problem, it's not a network card problem, it seems to be a specific windows problem for some reason.


I then purchased a usb wifi key USB-AC68. Downloaded the drivers, now the computer sees and connects to the wifi but received zero packets. I just build my own desktop computer i5 9600k, 1660ti so definitely not a performance issue of some kind d it's exactly the same story : wifi is seen using the USB key, but does not provide internet access specifically to the computer, if I repeat the wifi using my phone or the computer that connects to the wifi it works.


So to sum it up :

computer 1 sees the wifi but only with the wifi usb key, connects but doesnt get internet access, works perfectly fine with ubuntu.

computer 2 sees the wifi and can connect but same as the first, doesn't get packets. windows ten too


Anyone have any idea of a solution to this problem? seems like a protocol issue or detection issue of some kind on the computer?

I've got 4 systems connecting via wireless; all adapters are different makes; all have zero issues, and two of them are old (wireless-G only). Most every issue I have seen with wireless connections has been driver-related. (Or, impending router failure.) I would suggest identifying your adapter model/make, and searching for different drivers that you can try out. And, sometimes an older driver works better than a newer one (just had this issue on a system I was working on yesterday). Also, verify you have these same connection issues when connecting to different routers, just to rule that out.

OK, so the Windows 10 engineers bollixed up the wifi connectivity part of the operating system. Everybody knows that by now. It seems they are making some progress in resolving it. Now, instead of seeing "Secured, No Internet" on your list of wifi connections, you see "Connected, Secured" EXCEPT no webpages will load. So you really aren't connected. It does seem to be a step in the right direction. Does anybody know when they plan on a full and complete repair of this screw up of epic proportions?

Go to Network sharing centre, click Change Adapter settings, right click Wi-Fi and disable it, reboot and enable it, might work. If you still find it difficult to get the connection working, let us know the Wi-Fi card make and the driver you have at the moment.
