Windows 10: Computer not Detecting Ethernet

I just had a storm that came through. There was a single lightning strike that was close enough that it turned off my monitors, but they came back on a few seconds later, and my computer didn't seem to turn off with the monitors, so I wouldn't consider it a power outage.However, after that, my computer suddenly stopped being able to use my ethernet cord, saying there was nothing connected. I unplugged and replugged, even tried restarting the router, but nothing. I restarted my computer and unplugged and replugged the power cord, nothing. I plugged the ethernet into another computer and it work

I worked all this out for a Win7-WinXP direct ethernet computer-to-computer network and later amended it for a Win7-Win7 network. A step-by-step procedure for creating a two-computer Ethernet cable network - MSAForum You can use a crossover cable but do not have to. Doing this in Windows 10 is just about the same as doing it in Windows 7 but some diagrams look different & you have to look around for the equivalent settings in some cases. But I suggest you do yourself a favour and get a router so that it does all the hard work for you. Best of luck, Denis

 

Windows 10 after upgade to 1709 if keyboard not plugged then ethernet device is not detected.

When I start my windows 10 (1709 build) without plugging keyboard and mouse, it does not detect Ethernet card.

Mother board is of Intel and Ethernet is on board (integrated).

I have also installed latest Ethernet driver by auto updated drivers from internet.

Steps:

Shutdown pc

Remove keyboard and mouse

Keep lan cable plugged

Start pc

Ethernet device is not detected. It shows in list in Device manager screen. but with Yellow triangle.

Then I need to plug keyboard and just do a hardware scan then Ethernet is detected and all ok after that.

When I start with keyboard and mouse plugged in then it detects Ethernet card and available on LAN.

Am I missing something?
