Computer running into Memory Management BSOD, could use help troubleshooting

My girlfriend's laptop has been BSODing and I would love some help troubleshooting for her. Here's the details:

    • Laptop has memory_management BSOD every 20 minutes regardless of what's on screen.

    • Seems to have happened after the latest cumulative/security updates. Was totally fine before they hit. She uses the computer only once every few days though, so it's difficult for me to say for sure that this is the cause. Might be coincidence.

    • She says that nothing happened to the hardware no drops/bumps/etc that might cause the RAM to be displaced. I ran the memory diagnostic tool and it came back totally clear, so I'm hoping that puts us in the clear for any physical issues.

I uninstalled those cumulative/security updates and ran that diagnostic tool, and it was totally fine afterwards. Apparently after another reboot, however, the issue has come back. She's telling me that it didn't install updates at the beginning of this boot, but I'm thinking she may have just missed it.

If you need more specific information LMK, and I can ask. I'm 90% sure that this can be solved by uninstalling the updates and making it stop downloading them, but I wanted to get advice from some of y'all that are smarter than me. Also, what's the best way to make sure it doesn't install those updates again? I tried to do this the first time, but google wasn't actually helpful on this one.

    :)

  2. BSOD - Usually IRQL not less or equal or memory management - Please help

    Hi,

The memory management stop error indicates a general memory management problem. If you are experiencing this problem, you can use the memory diagnostic tool to determine whether the problems are caused by failing RAM or the memory system of your motherboard.
    See steps below:

    • Type mdsched.exe in the Search box, and then press Enter.
    • Choose whether to restart the computer and run the tool immediately or schedule the tool to run at the next restart.
    • Windows Memory Diagnostics run automatically after the computer restarts and performs a standard memory test automatically.
    • When testing is completed, the computer restarts automatically. You’ll see the test results when you log on.

    BSOD- memory management

Upon checking the dump file, the issue is being caused by ntoskrnl.exe. Ntoskrnl.exe is the one responsible for memory management that is why you're having the Memory Management error. We suggest that you follow the steps found in the link that we provided
in our last reply to resolve the issue. Please take note that if you're overclocking your processor or video card, kindly reset their settings to default.

Let us know the outcome after performing the provided steps.
