And by slow I mean it is fucked. Can't open firefox, cant open snipping tool, i couldnt even create a .txt file! etc etc.

This is fixed by a simple reboot, with the the power supply switch, because the normal shut down button wont do anything.

I will also mention that some motherfucking Windows GUI Logon Application process is usually taking 50 - 80% of my cpu when this shit happens.

Normally cpu usage is at a 8%

I did some research, and anopther user seemed to have a similar problem, which was cause by a crypto miner malware disguised as the windows gui logon app, but in his case the process would end when he opened task manager, which isnt the case for me

I am 99% sure it is not malware, but i could certainly be wrong

EDIT: on another note, when i open task manager it always shows 50% of cpu usage and then quickly drops to the normal 7%, idk if that is just because i opened task manager or if it is bcz of the possible crypto miner. Anyways, I may open task manager, it goes from 50 to 8, then close tm and quickly open it again and it will do the same from 50 to 8 thing. So idk if it is cause of concern

It seems to happen at random after a few hrs of having the computer on, but sometimes the computer it happens by using zoom, which isnt that surprising tbh

My pc is a 1080 with i7-8700k btw

This is not much of an issue, as previously mentioned simply reeboting the computer will fix it and it wont happen for a while. I am just curious as to why this happens, so if you can tell me then I would be immensely grateful

    slowness in computer usage.

    Hi John,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.

I appreciate if you could answer a few questions to narrow down to the issue.

    • What is the make and model of the computer?

    • What makes you think that system is running slow? Is it when you are trying to run application?

    • Did you install any third party security application?
From the screenshot that you have provided, I understood that it’s not the issue with the disk usage. The slowness might be due to the memory usage.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run maintenance task and check if it helps.

    • Press Windows key + X from the desktop.

    • Select Control panel and Select System and Security.

    • Click on Troubleshoot common computer problems under System and maintenance.

    • Now Run maintenance task under
      System and security
      .
Hope the information helps. Let us know if you need further assistance. We will be happy to help.

    Thank you.
