Computer will not accept PIN code - states I am unable to change PIN

    Hello,

Both my wife and I have purchased Age of Empires two copies so that we can play each other. Its installed on our two computers and works on my account.

However my wife cannot log in to AoE under her Microsoft account. When she tries to, it asks for a Windows Hello PIN, and even though we have just created her Microsoft account and are sure of the PIN, it states the PIN is wrong and will notnlog her in.

When i tried the 'I forgot my PIN link' and was redirected to change it under 'sign in options' I could not - it said the option to use the PIN is unavailable. I then tried getting rid of the PIN altogether, but at this point i was told that 'your organisation requires Windows Hello'.

I use the computer for personal use and am not a member of an organisation. I did buy it second hand however. It still has a Cash Converters account on it this is where I got it though I use my own. Is there a way to delete this Windows Hello option altogether and tell my computer to forget about PINs?

    Any help would be appreciated,

    Andrew

    :)

  2. Stuck in diagnostic mode, PIN # not accepted, please help

I had no issues with my computer prior. I simply was following some online suggestions for ways to reduce lag in an online game we like to play. The suggestion was to turn diagnostic mode on, which I did. I shut my computer off and when I turned it back on and entered my PIN # it said it was incorrect, yet, it is indeed correct. This started a week worth of nonstop research on how to undo this mess. I can hold the shift key down while restarting my computer and I get a blue screen where I have several options. I have tried restarting my computer to previous version, does not work. I have gone to troubleshooting, advance, options and I get to the point that I can see a list of options like safe mode and etc. but cannot click on any options in the list, instead it says restart computer to get me to those options which when I restart takes me right back to the Windows login screen. I tried to pull up command prompt and it asks for my PIN # which it will not accept. I click on forgot password and it restarts PC and takes me right back to the windows login screen where my PIN is still not accepted. I try to get to safe mode, it asks for the user account and then the PIN # that again, it will not accept. I have turned the PC on and off 3 times to start the auto repair and it just takes me to the same screen as holding down the shift key when restarting. I don't know what else to do, I cannot get to safe mode because it requires a PIN # that it does not accept, I cannot get into command prompt because it requires a PIN # that again says is incorrect, I cannot get anywhere with any of the online options or directions I see that works for many people. WHAT DO I DO? Any help or suggestions??

  3. Eric Ber Win User
    PIN

    Hi Matthew,

There's a possibility that the PIN code you're asked to enter is the PIN code of your Windows 10 user account. If you signed in to Windows 10 using your Microsoft account, the Xbox app will take the credentials you've used to sign in. Let's remove the PIN
    code. Here are the steps:

    1. Click Start and select Settings.
    2. Select Accounts.
    3. Select Sign-in options, under PIN, click
      Remove
      .
    4. Confirm the changes by entering your profile password.

    Refer to
Can I sign in to Windows
without a password for the steps on how to change the sign-in options for your Windows 10 device.

If the same instance occurs after removing the PIN code and changing your user account's sign-in options, we suggest that you sign in to
Xbox.com. This is to verify if there's an issue with your Xbox account.

Should you need further assistance, don't hesitate to get back to us.
