  1. Computers acting up

    Hi,

So here's my situation, i've had my pc for a year and it has been working perfectly. then about 1 month ago the PC started acting up very weird. So firstly the pc has started to crash more often. It's not very often but while I'm playing games or watching youtube videos. Not only that but I also cant troubleshoot the network. It gives me the error "A problem is preventing the troubleshooter from starting." Error code 0x80070490. Nto only that but i cant open some apps such as device manager, the error message says "An administrator has blocked you from running this app.". I have attempted reseting the PC but it gives me an error saying it was unable to reset the PC. Also, the message saying activate windows comes up. Even though the code has worked fine since the start. (But I think the PC parts provider scammed me). Also I am unable to update my windows, there are 2 updates

    1: 2018-12 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4483234) Install error - 0x8000ffff

2: 2018-12 Security Update for Adobe Flash Player for Windows 10 Version 1803 for x64-based Systems (KB4471331) Install error - 0x8e5e0408

Ive tried sfc scannow but I dont know how to read them.

Please any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks,

    :)

  2. ACT Pro 2013 will not open in Windows 10

    Hi,

Thank you for posting in Microsoft Community.

The most likely causes on a standalone are a damaged or invalid .pad file or SQL is not running, or is damaged.

I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue persists.

      • Click your Windows Start button, choose Run and type in actdiag.

      • When ACT! Diagnostics comes up, click Databases, the Database List.

      • Locate your database in the list, right-click on it and select Detach. Make sure you know the filepath to your database before detaching it.

      • When the database has been detached, open My Computer (or Windows Explorer) and browse to the location of your database.

      • Locate the .PAD file for your database [database name].pad and delete it.

      • Reopen ACT!...you will get a message that the last database opened cannot found, then will be taken to the Open Database dialog box.

      • At the bottom of this box, change the Files of Type to .adf, browse to the location of your database and double-click on the .adf file for your database.

      • You will get a message that ACT! will verify your database, click OK and ACT will reattach your database to SQL and create a new .pad file.

      • Hope this helps.

    Computers acting up

Does this computer build have compatibility problems? Opinions welcomed!

Lets start with what you're going to use this computer for, not what you want to put in it.

Rules/steps to building a computer (in chronological order):
First rule: Determine what your needs are.
    Second rule: Define your budget.
    Third rule: Pick parts.
Fourth rule: Review parts several times.
    Fifth rule: Buy said parts.
    Sixth rule: Build it.

You are on rule/step 1. Go through the list until you're done.
