Windows 10: Configuring Bluetooth Services hangs

After a Windows 10 update, my Bluetooth speaker connects but the sound has a severe echo making the speaker unusable. When I remove the device in Setup\Bluetooth and Other Devices and try to reinstall and connect the speaker appears to connect properly and a window comes up showing "Configuring Bluetooth Services..." and just hangs. When things were working properly, it would get to this step and another window would open and show the Bluetooth connection. This window no longer comes up.

Bluetooth Services

I've been using the audio gateway on my phone for a while, but when I actually looked through the list of services it does provide, I found it to be quite large. For some reason, my computer doesn't support many of these, such as remote control etc.

I'm pretty sure it has more or less to do with my bluetooth adapter, because it gives me only a small list of the total services it can accept. Anybody have any idea how I can add more?

 

Configuring bluetooth services

Since installing my Bluetooth headset, BH9, I now have a small window permanently open displaying the Bluetooth logo and the words configuring Bluetooth Services. Is there any way of closing this window please?

 

Pairing Bluetooth Headphones

As an additional troubleshooting step, we suggest that you try to change the Startup type for Bluetooth Support Service as Automatic. Here are the steps:

• In the search box, type services and click on the result.
• Select and double-click Bluetooth Support Service.
• Under the Startup type, click on the drop-down menu and change it to
  Automatic.
• Restart your computer.
