Windows 10: Configuring update for windows 10 stuck at 57%

My laptop has been configuring update for over 4 hrs and is stuck at 57%. Any suggestions on what may be the problem

Hello.

Some 1 hour ago, I restarted my computer for the Windows Update process to complete.

But strangely, it has been stuck at 57% for some 40+ minutes.

Further, my Windows updates itself regularly. So, it is not like I am running some months worth of updates.

Also, the windows is installed on a SSD.

Can you please guide me what can I do if even after hours it stays at 57%?

  Is the installation has further proceeded or still stuck on 57%?

  How are you trying to upgrade to Windows 10 using Windows 10 ISO or Windows update?
  

Since it has been stuck on 57% more than 5 days, I would suggest you to restart the computer. Once you restart the computer it'll start with Windows 8. In-order to upgrade to Windows 10 from Windows 8 first of all you need to update to Windows 8.1
then only you will be eligible for free upgrade to Windows 10.

If you wish to upgrade to Windows 10 try to upgrade using Windows 10 ISO and check if it helps in resolving the issue. Download Windows 10 ISO and create media from the below link

Download Windows 10

Once you complete creating media. Insert the Windows installation DVD in the DVD ROM and restart your computer.

Note: Do not perform clean and custom installation. If you do so, activation issue will occur.

I'm Jin, a fellow Windows 10 user and an independent advisor.

I understand that your device is currently stuck at 57% while trying to install an update.

To confirm if your device is really stuck, check on the hard drive light and see if its stable. A stable light means it's really stuck, hard press the power button and hopefully it should revert any changes.

On the other hand if it's still blinking, it means there's still some activity on your device, just give it more time as restarting might be taking quite sometime.

If it failed to load Windows after the forcing to restart the device, try accessing the advanced startup. When booting once you see the Windows logo hard press the power button to interrupt it. You may need to do this 3-4 times till the advance startup shows
up.

In advanced options, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Repair Windows. If repair fails, proceed with Troubleshoot > Reset this PC.
