Windows 10: Confused about bitlocker recovery key

I'm going to explain what happened to my windows 10 Dell Precision 5540 yesterday. Bear with me, as it will reveal alot of confusion and I looking if someone can explain what I witnessed. I going to be careful to explan the order that things happened and I witnessed. Yesterday, I restarted my computer to do a system update. It was installing the following update: 2021-07 Cumulative Update for Windows 10 Version 21H1 for x64-based System KB5004945 So after all the apps got closed, it did it usually 30% of the work it needed to do prior to rebooting.
