  1. Confusion over wording on an MS Patch

I've been reading up on the recent chkdsk issues and found this wording in the patch notes:

This issue is resolved and should now be prevented automatically on non-managed devices. Please note that it can take up to 24 hours for the resolution to propagate to non-managed devices

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/4592438/windows-10-update-kb4592438

Can someone explain what this means? Is this something that MS has pushed out automatically? What is meant by a "non managed device"? One that isn't in intune? Or a domain?

I see that managed devices need a special group policy but rather than a setting it's an MSI?

I would appreciate someone explaining this is some more detail.

    thanks.

    :)

  2. MS WORD

I have proceeded with your suggestion of selecting the word document saved in a path and tried to select it for right clicking but miserably failed. It has not allowed me to select the word document first and windows explorer hanged circling for sometime
and came out of explorer itself. This issue may be something different I feel. Other MS docs like excel, notepad etc are opening correctly when I double click as usual and this word document only giving problem.

Please suggest some other workable solution.

    Thanks,

    Balakrishnan.

  3. MS WORD

    Hi Balakrishnan,

Thank you for updating me about the concern.

I greatly apologize if It was not explain in detail on the site I have provided.

Please accept my sincere apology Balakrishnan.

One of the most common cause why Microsoft office file that won't open on windows 10 is because of incorrect file associations.

The troubleshooting steps to know if this is the cause of the issue is to manually select the correct program or application to open the File, we can do this by:

    1. Going to the " File Explorer" , then choose the file (Microsoft Word doc.) you want to open, then right-click the file.

    2.Select Open With

    3. Then, select Microsoft Word from the list of options.

If the cause of the MS word file not opening in file explorer is incorrect file associations it should open the file.

However if it would still not open the file we then look for other troubleshooting steps to determine the cause of this concern.

Please update me about the outcome so that I can further assist you Balakrishnan.
