  1. Connect App for wireless display works briefly (if at all)

I want to use my Surface Pro 7 as a wireless display and it worked fine yesterday, but it stopped working today without touching any settings.

Afterwards, I updated both PCs to 20H2, reinstalled the Connect App and then reset it, restarted the router in case there is a network issue but nothing seemed to work. My desktop doesn't find the Surface except for once when the connection dropped almost immediately and then the desktop couldn't find the surface anymore.

I wasn't sure whether the type of connection matters, but I used all the possible combinations of Ethernet and WiFi between the two PC's but nothing seems to work. The Surface is invisible.

Is this a known issue? The name of the app doesn't help to find troubleshooting online, it's too generic.

    Connecting Wireless Display

I connected a wireless display today, which works very well. This is a smart tv with wireless and a pc that has a modern wifi card. But ( there is always a "but"!) there is no sound. The device I have connected to does NOT appear on the list of devices in sound playback. I "think" when I first connected there was sound, but somehow I seem to have broken it. Does anyone know whether a remote display should have sound and how I can get it back?

Windows Wireless Display Adapter-not connecting anymore

    Hello Phillip,

Did you notice any changes on your PC prior to the issue? I suggest that you follow the steps outlined in this support article:
    Troubleshooting Wireless Display Adapters.

Since updating drivers did not work, in addition, you can try to reset the Wireless Adapter.

    1. On the adapter, press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds.
    2. When the message " Ready to connect "shows, open the
      Action Center.
    3. Select Connect, and in the list of displays, select
      Microsoft
      Wireless Display Adapter.

Please respond to this thread to let me know how the issue progresses. Similarly, if you have more questions, please inform me by replying to this post.

"Connect" to wireless displays not working

First you have to have a wireless display adapter and have it selected in connect.

Use the Microsoft Wireless Display Adapter

Open 'connect' from the app list, not from the list of apps installed on the device in 'storage', not from notifications.
