Windows 10: Connecting a new monitor to a laptop

Hi,

I just got a monitor to pair it with my xps laptop and though I managed to connect it twice, there is no signal at all, the rest of the time.

The laptop detects the monitor but doesn’t automatically connect when I select extend or display, I have to go through a random process, that I have yet to understand to finally get it to work

Here are some additional info that could, maybe, help you guys understand my issue:

• Monitor : LG 27GL650 144hz Laptop : Dell XPS 13 9370
• they are connected via usb-c hub (using hdmi 2.0 cable)
• after a long use, the laptop needs to be restarted, as it won’t play videos (error message on YouTube, I think it has something to do with the uhd 620 graphics card)
• it connects automatically on other laptops with hdmi ports

Can someone enlighten me on this matter ? I would appreciate it

Things to do once connected new G-Sync monitor

I'm getting my G-Sync monitor today.

I think I have to take the following steps:

• Connect 1440p G-sync monitor with DP cable
• Connect second 1080p 60Hz monitor by HDMI
• Startup PC
• Reinstall display driver
• Restart PC (I always do that after display driver install)
• Activate G-Sync in NV control panel (I believe also V-Sync is auto on after that?)
• Set my 1440p monitor from 1080p to 1440p
• Calibrate my 1440p monitor

Also ingame, I should turn off V-Sync?
Are there any problems running a second 60Hz 1080p monitor?

Is there anything else I should do/know?

• What changes did you make in the BIOS? As making the changes in the BIOS is only recommended by Microsoft if done by the manufacturer.
  

• How are you connecting to the 2nd monitor?

Regarding your query on how to connect your laptop to your monitor, we suggest to contact your manufacturer. Maybe one of the issue is your display adapter because you cannot connect to your monitor.
