I have found that flushing the DNS and reseting the TCP-IP Stack in the command prompt have (or has) provided a successful fix with clientele with the same issue.

Make sure you are in the command prompt as admin.

Type in the command ipconfig /flushdns and hit enter.

Restart or continue to type in the two commands for resting the TCP/IP Stack.

In the command prompt as admin.

Type in the command netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt and hit enter.

Type in the command netsh winsock reset and hit enter.

    Then reboot.

I have the same Broadcom Ethernet network adapter problem with Win 10 (being kicked out regularly). After a few weeks of rolling back/updating the Broadcom drivers, someone said to go into my ASUS 802.11ac router settings and switched from Auto to 20/40/80 MHz.
Initially, this seemed to be a temporary fix, but I noticed yesterday I had continuous connection without any dropouts. Hopefully, it'll last. Very annoying that there isn't a permanent solution from Broadcom on this, and many of us have to take a shot in the dark in getting this to work. *Mad

I have two Dell XPS 8300 and upon updating to Win 10 on my pc I had no issues for a week and then upgraded my wife's pc (against her wishes) as well. Again, no issues for well over a week and then one day both dropped the connection at various times. Being somewhat of a techie I tried all the various probable solutions posted here and elsewhere to little avail. But you know what, I don't care for being frustrated and it felt like a losing battle. Retreat? Hell no, my strategy was to attack the issue in a different direction (just like Gen. MacArthur).

Getting tired of this? Go to Amazon (or wherever) and buy a USB converter and you'll be much happier. This auto installs after plug in and I haven't had a drop off in a week. Isn't that worth the $12? And if you are like me you will prevent much ribbing from your wife. It might even be worth the few nickels for overnight delivery so you don't hear 'I told you so' more than a few times. *Tongue

Please forgive my ignorance, but does this device bypass using the Broadcom Ethernet Adapter in my PC?

Although I'm in a desperate search for a solution, I'd like to know more on how this would actually work better than plugging in my Cat5 cable directly to the PC.

The reviews look good on Amazon and I'm very inclined to get this......

  6. Yes, it sure does. This device plugs into a USB port and you then connect your network cable to the other end. As for performance, this is the 10/100 model which I selected as I do not need Gigabit Ethernet at home. The connection I have is unwavering and blistering fast. And no drops. Not one.

However if you transfer movies, ultra large files, etc. between nodes you might prefer the 10/100/1000, slightly more expensive model. I have not used this but imagine it works the same as the 10/100 unit.

Thanks for the quick reply hiedtechie. This is very good news.
I do have a lot of USB3 ports in the back of my PC and do transfer a lot of large audio files.....seeing the price difference is only $5....I'm in!!! (hopefully, Microsoft will fix this Win 10/Broadcom driver issue.....but until then, we have Plugable *chuckle)

Thanks for posting this info......it's much appreciated!!!! *Party

Connection drops completely when trying to use the Internet

I have a Dell XPS8300 and updated to Windows 10 Home just over a week ago. I also was suffering the random drops with my internet connection and tried all the fixes I could find but nothing seemed to work, so out of desperation I loaded up an out of date network driver I found on the Dell website and up to now (touch wood!) I haven't had a single drop for three days (it was every ten minutes before)

Here is the file I downloaded if it may be of use to other XPS8300 users.

  9. @Gex - I tried that myself but for some reason the original driver would not fully uninstall. Because of that I would get a message stating something to the tune of not being able to proceed with the driver install as a newer version of Broadcom was installed. Again, this was after uninstalling the original driver, rebooting, using CCleaner, etc.

Hi, just a 16yo twat here. Anyways, I think i found a small fix to the issue. Go to Network Connections in your computer, then right-click your Ethernet adapter and click "Properties". Then under "Networking", click the "Configure" button. Go to "Power Management" and uncheck the box that reads "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power" . I found that it works to stop my precious 300mbps internet (heh bragging abit here but meh Connection drops completely when trying to use the Internet :p ) from cutting down while using Steam. BTW im using Broadlink Gigabyte network ethernet adapter as well. hope this helps you and anyone out there *Smile

    Hello Hiedtechie,

I actually bought the USB 3.0 adapter above, disabled my Broadcom Gigabit Network, and only running the ASIX drivers from Plugable.......yet, I'm having the same dropping connection issue from the internet. I've also changed the Cat5e cable, plugged it directly to Plugable (bypassing my router), and all without any success.

A replacement adapter is on it's way from pluggable, but I'm thinking this driver dropping out/needing update/rollback/unplugging adapter/reinstalling driver issue is related to Win 10 rather than the adapter???
    IDK......very frustrating......*Mad

Dont bother to buy a new one, I have the exact same problem with another adapter with same chipset, Asix one. Works good, then suddenly Windows shows broken connectivity. Workaround is just to unplug and plug in again, or disable adapter and re-enable. I guess the driver is just badh programed by Asix. Sadly I found out about this just after I bought this adapter. There are other usb 3.0 gbit adapters with a Realtek chip, RTL8153. A bed is to buy one of these, I think Realtek drivers work better than shitty Asix.

I also noticed the Asix sometimes just runs in usb 2.0 modus. You cannot see this until you do a bandwidth test, for example with iperf. Windows shows always 1gbit connectivity, regardless. When it is in usb 2.0 modus, it just performs about at 270mbit, in usb 3.0 it gives me a 670mbit output on my LAN.
