  1. Constant BSOD, BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER Error

I installed Windows 10 a few days ago. Since then, my computer regularly restarts and says it's because of a BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER error. This seems to only be a problem when I have my wireless keyboard and mouse attached through a wireless USB device. I have a Microsoft sculpt comfort keyboard and mouse.

    So far, I've:

    • Uninstalled and reinstalled all USBs.
    • Updated all of my drivers.
    • Completely reinstalled Windows 10.
    • Updated the computers BIOS.

I thought the last step resolved the issue as I was able to use my wireless mouse and keyboard for roughly three hours before my computer restarted itself. . Please help. This is driving me insane, and I need this computer to work, among other things. Here's my system information and a crash dump analysis

  3. Constant BSOD, BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER Error. How do I stop this?

    Hi Empousa,

This issue is typically caused by a driver for a device that's operating on the USB bus.

What USB devices do you have attached to the machine? Are you sure that you have the latest drivers for all of them?

Looking at one of your memory dumps, I see the file lvuvc64.sys (which I believe is used on some USB webcams) is dated 2012. I'd suggest looking for an update for that driver first.

Please let me know if you need help finding that driver, or if you're still having problems after updating it.

    Thanks,

    Mark

    Constant BSOD, BUGCODE_USB_DRIVER Error

Thanks, I'll try to get someone to look at the CBS files. In the mean time please right click start and select command prompt (Admin) and copy/paste this into the window and press enter. Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth . Some people can't run it, so if it won't run, don't be concerned. It should take anywhere from 20 minutes up to a couple of hours, depending on what repairs it needs to make. It will start off at 20% and look like it is stuck and not doing anything. Just let it run, it's working. Try that ans let me know.

Also, as a test, see if you can remove the wireless mouse, keyboard and wireless receiver and run it that way or use a wired keyboard and mouse and see if it makes any difference. Also, go to Device Management and look at the icons there and see if you have any with a yellow triangle or a gray exclamation point on them. If you find one, click the arrow and expand that item and take a screenshot and upload it here to tenforums. This will tell you how. https://www.tenforums.com/tutorials/1...en-forums.html

  9. I haven't had the chance to do this yet, but I'll start this in a few minutes and let it run while I sleep.

The computer seems to run fine without the wireless mouse and keyboard. Oddly enough, it even runs fine as long as I'm using one or the other. But if I leave the USB dongle in the port and don't use either the wireless keyboard or mouse for a few minutes, it shuts down and restarts because of the bugcode_USB_driver error. I've downloaded the latest driver for this keyboard, which unfortunately, only goes up to Windows 8.

Windows 10 will usually accept Windows 8 drivers, but nothing is always. I believe Win. 10 has issues with some Wireless devices/drivers. If the Wireless Dongle is causing the USB Error, I would try to live without it for now.

One thing you could try for a test, is type Power Plan in the search box, under the selected power plan, click the change plan settings then, advanced options, then click the change settings not currently available, the scroll down to USB settings and expand it and set 'selective suspend' to disabled, save and exit. What selective suspend does is allows Windows to turn off USB ports that are not in use to save power. If that does not work, I would use a wired keyboard and mouse.

  11. I ran the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth check last night and woke up to my computer displaying this:

Apparently, this has something to do with .NET Framework 3.5 as seen in this update and discussion of the error. However, I don't have security update 2966827 or 2966828 to remove from my computer. I did install the NDPFixit-KB3005628-X64.exe package that's on the update page and tried to manually .NET Framework 3.5 to see if that helps. However, running the sfc /scannow gives me the same result as before of
So, in summary, I'm losing my mind.

Done. We'll see if that helps. I'll seriously hate if I can't use my wireless mouse and keyboard after updating to Windows 10.

  12. I tried running the Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth again with the wireless dongle for the Microsoft keyboard and mouse in the USB port, and my computer crashed again. So, it's definitely caused by having that USB dongle in there. It's incredibly bizarre to me though that the crash and restart only happens when I don't use the wireless keyboard and mouse for a few minutes. As long as I keep using either one, the computer runs fine. It's like the computer version of the movie Speed.

Just in case this happened again, I set up the computer to pull a much larger memory dump the next time my computer crashed. It's a huge file of 737 MB, but it's a complete record of the latest crash. Here's a shareable link to the zipped file of dump.
    WinZip Shared File 2015-08-15 14-30.zip

I know that my last post called out the error as having something to do with .NET Framework 3.5, but at this point, it just feels like the USB dongle and my current wireless Microsoft keyboard and mouse is incompatible with Windows 10. You'd think that Microsoft would have created updated drivers for these other devices to go with the new OS release

We want small memory dumps. Please configure your computer for Small Memory Dumps.

The code you listed means what the error message said

It cannot find the source to repair from. What installation media do you have to install Windows 10?

I thought you had determined the problem was the USB dongle.

  14. The last zip file I put up was the collection of smaller dumps. I'll attach it again to this post. Attachment 31617

I installed Windows 10 from the 64-bit link on the Microsoft page here.

It does seem to be, but it's incredibly bizarre to me that the crash and restart only happens when I don't use the wireless keyboard and mouse for a few minutes. As long as I keep using either one, the computer runs fine.

I just did a search for "cannot repair" in my CBS.log and this is what it finds four times:

    [SR] Cannot repair member file [l:72{36}]"_dataperfcounters_shared12_neutral.h" of NetFx4-_dataperfcounters_shared12_neutral_h, Version = 4.0.10240.16384, pA = amd64, , PublicKeyToken = {l:8 b:b03f5f7f11d50a3a} in the store, hash mismatch

Not sure how much that helps, but it's what Windows cannot repair.
