    Constant bsod error - critical_process_died

I have no clue what I could've done to my hard drive, it was working perfectly a few days ago, and then this just randomly started happening.

Is it more likely that some corrupted files are just messing with my system and being stubborn, or do hard drives just randomly fail like this?

I was thinking that a clean install would fix this, because I've had driver issues in the past, mainly my graphics drivers. Latest nvidia driver would, cause a bsod while playing a game. And my Intel driver would crash sometimes.

Hard drives regularly fail random, there is most of the time no way to tell why or how or something.

I guess ill take it into a computer repair shop and see what they say, worst case, I'll get a new one through warranty.

I would suggest to use the warranty immediately instead of wasting money onto a repair shop.
Is this repair shop the place where you have warranty from?

Ah well, it normally is easy to replace a hard drive in a laptop on your own *Smile
Just watch some youtube videos about how to replace a hard drive for your laptop.

Is it even worth trying to do a clean install of Windows 10 on this hard drive?

A clean install would relate to an issue we're not dealing with or your installation is very corrupted.

I guess I'll do a backup and give it a try

Hey, so, I was finally able to do a system restore, which seemed to make my system a bit more stable it's not constantly crashing on me now. I ran the sfc /scannow command and it came back with the same message as before "...couldn't fix the corrupted files". I then ran dism /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth command and it came back with an error: "0x800f081f".

After checking through these forums I found similar threads with the same issue as me. I found a possible solution to this from a user named "LittleJay", he posted on that thread "What repaired the component store corruption for me was using a W10 ISO to create a bootable flash drive and then running an in place upgrade from within my W10 installation. It saves all your installed programs and files, but you will need to redo any Windows updates.".

Could you walk me through that? I'm not entirely sure how to do that and I don't want to mess it up. Also, does the windows media creation tool create a W10 ISO?

There are a few ways to solve the corruption, first upload the log file to find out if we can ignore it *Smile

You mean the sfc log file, right?

You have lots of corrupted shortcuts.

I suggest that you use the IMAGE HEALTH program, a program written by a tenforums user that makes SFC and DISM commands easier, only thing that you have to do is download the .iso, put it on a USB, (insert the USB), run the IMAGE HEALTH program and choose OPTION 3 (option 3 is restorehealth with source).

Ok I'll give it a try, I have a question, to download the ISO I need to select a W10 edition. But the options are like: WINDOWS 10, WINDOWS 10 KN, WINDOWS 10 N, WINDOWS 10 Single Language. Which one of these do I choose for Windows 10 Home.

It says that the Windows 10 editions below are valid for both Windows 10 Home and Windows 10 Professional.
so does that mean I just choose the WINDOWS 10 edition?
