Windows 10: Contradictory Messages in Trying to Resolve Bad Image Error 0xc000012f

So I have been trying to resolve a bad image error that appeared on my computer ever since yesterday which happened as a result of my PC crashing and shutting down during an installation of a game. Ever since the crash a message would appear when I tried to open any download within the app or open the app itself which would state something to the effect of "C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\mfc140u.dll isn't designed to run on windows 10 or it contains an error so try installing it again," I'm not exactly tech savvy, so I would like further instructions before uninstalling anything within system 32.


So far I've tried sfc/scannow while using the command prompt as an administrator and it ended up saying that there were no integrity violations, but when I open a certain file within the application where I was installing the game from it states that "the setup files are corrupted, obtain a new copy of the program and reinstall," And this is what I've been confused about and want to understand. Does sfc/scannow not detect corruption within applications or something to that effect?


Any advice on what course of action I should take would be greatly appreciated!

  Run dialog and press Enter.
• Have you checked if there's any pending system update that needs to be installed on your computer?
• Can you tell us what troubleshooting steps you have done so far?

Furthermore, we suggest that you perform a
clean boot to your computer to enhance its performance. Clean boot temporarily disables all third party applications as well as all Microsoft non-essential services so only basic drivers will run. This will help us
find any third-party software which could be the cause of this issue.

Keep getting bad image 0xc000012f popup

After a recent Spotify update, I can no longer access the software on my windows 10 computer.

the popup error message says :

- WerFault.exe - bad image

- C:\\Windows\SYSTEM32\sfc.dll does not run on windows or contains an error

- error code: 0xc000012f

As far as I found, only Spotify has this problem on my computer.
