Converted local account to microsoft - can I convert it back?

    Its Pro edition actually.

I think ultimately what happens is that the system didn't have enough privileges to completely convert Administrator account to Microsoft account, and doesn't have the privileges to convert it back. I guess it wasn't a good idea to be using Administrator account to begin with, but I've been doing that for ages without any issues and some added convenience when it came to making system changes.

Same here ... Hate it ..hate it ..and hate it .. Why the hell we have to sign in MS account in order to use it ..
Can it just be ..." Hey Google ..that's it ..."

  3. Since the experience I had the Admin account is used very sparingly these last few years in Win 7; I just use a lot of the right-click Run as Admin thing as Standard user. Sometimes when I do use the Admin account I'll get side tracked on to the Net or something and then start goofing in the system and realize I'm still in Admin and I need to get out.

I ran into the same problem. But finally I found solution!

Just click on Sign with a local account instead

When you are prompted for new user details, just enter the old user name and the same password . click next ! That's it you are done!*Smile

I have reverted ! All settings and files are remained the same.

  6. Dass, are you certain it's the same problem och had? I converted a Standard user account to a Microsoft account and can convert it back to the Standard account easily in the manner you've described. But och's problem was different in that he had converted the Administrator account to a Microsoft account. He appeared to have tried everything, but the problem was that the options available in the interface were different because it was an Administrator account he was trying to convert back.

    THERE ARE 2 OPTIONS

standard which is MS account based, requires password to sync automatically with other MS services.

    OR

local which can either be password protected on not, but loses some MS functions.#

BOTH options are available for users I HAVE BOTH and switch between them if i need admin privilages

THATS WHY the option is available

Actually there are two types of Standard user account: a local user account or Microsoft services user account. So in my last post I should have said, "I converted a Standard local user account to an Standard Microsoft services user account" if I wanted to be completely accurate with my terminology.

Guys, I've since done a fresh reinstall of Windows 10, and everything is working fine.

Word of advise, if you're running Win7/8 using Administrator username, create another user before upgrading to Windows 10 and use that. On a fresh install of Windows 10, when I enabled Administrator and logged in with it, it doesn't even have an option to associate it with Microsoft account, and most apps don't even launch under Administrator username - for instance trying to launch Edge comes back with "Windows 10 Edge can’t be opened using the built-in administrator account", and some other apps produce similar error.

So it was just a botchered transfer of the built in Administrator account from Win7 to Win10 during upgrade.

  11. You can change how the built-in Administrator account works yes, but "fix" is relative to the access you want the built-in Admin. to have. The administrator-user account seems enough for my needs, and has access to Edge, etc.
