Windows 10: Cookies by the hundreds.

Discus and support Cookies by the hundreds. in Browsers and Email to solve the problem; I have found on my system Firefox (57.0.2) is getting hundreds of tracking cookies. Found with SAS. It doesn't happen with Windows 7. Any ideas?... Discussion in 'Browsers and Email' started by Layback Bear, Dec 16, 2017.

    Cookies by the hundreds.

I noticed an uptick in trackers, etc shortly before v57.0.2. I first noticed it on an Android tablet that runs AdBlockPlus and Ghostery as addons to FF. Some sites will have upwards of 50 things blocked by AdBlock and over 60 cookies blocked by Ghostery on a single URL. I see similar counts on this W10 PC with FF. I believe it's related to websites, not so much the browser. Waiting until the holidays are over to see if the counts drop. I'm thinking it's all shopping related. The holiday marketing e-mails have also skyrocketed in recent weeks. BestBuy fills my inbox on a daily basis, as do other retailers. As an aside, we always run CCleaner after each internet browser session to help clean up any leftovers after the browsers are closed.

  3. I also noticed after removing the Google bundle my Firefox cache went from 300,000 kb plus to 300 kb.
I have not got bad cookie found by SAS also.
My whole system is faster sense I removed the Google bundle.

Seems like finding and removing the Google toolbar bundle solved the problem.

    Thanks folks for your help.

Watch out for those tracking cookies, I had one attached to the CPU on Vista. it slowed my laptop down real bad. I wound up doing a factory default setting to get rid of it.

  6. I use Super Anti Spyware to remove tracking cookies. This makes removing tracking cookies easy.
The hard part is figuring out where all of them was coming from.

My Daily Driver for surfing and spamming is my Lenovo laptop "Gremlin" running Win 8.1. Until recently IE had always been the faster browser. That's changed over the last few Months and in the last couple of Weeks IE had gotten so slow it's unbearable to use. Chrome was second in line closely trailed by FF 56, *Yesterday I upgraded FF to v57. I have the same extensions on both Chrome and Firefox and they include uBlock Origin, Adblock Plus and Disconnect. If I goto a Mainstream Legit Site like Fox News - Breaking News Updates | Latest News Headlines | Photos News Videos in Chrome I'll get a minimum number of "hits". A totally different story with FireFox. Goto the same Site and I'm immediately pounded by advertising and content "requests" . Does Facebook, which I Don't use Really Need to request content 130 Plus times in under two minutes ?? And why isn't it doing the same thing on Chrome ? Apparently the same thing is happening with IE, and Adguard and Adblock Plus are blocking them ? and that's the reason it's so slow and "jerky" ?
