Windows 10: copy and paste erratic

Lately when i try to copy and paste something, as in the url bar, after I highlight and press copy, the highlighting disappears and i have to do this over and over until it takes.Can someone tell me what is wrong. I copy and paste like i always have. this is odd. It happened today on a youtube url and the NYTimes. It doesn't seem to matter. Its' constant.thanks.just now when i went to windows topics below to find an appropriate topic of which there is none when I put my cursor on the drop down arrow tne selction in the box higlighted itself.What is going on . THanks again.
