Windows 10: corrupt update

On January 4 my Windows 10 Stated I had an update to install which I promptly gave permission to install. After the update installed, My system booted to the primary Drive which I have two in my Work Station one a Windows 10 32 bit and the other a Windows 10 64 bit which I use Primarily. The update was to the 64 bit drive which after the update, I booted back up and my Welcome window appeared but when I went to click within the window to bring up my Log in Window, it briefly appeared then dissapeared and this kept happening everytime I clicked in the welcome window and I tried all methods to bring in the log in window with No suscess. I contacted Microsoft Tech agaent and after describing the problem he sent me a link to download the Media Tool to create on a USB Drive which I did. I could have worked around this but the shutdown three times method brought up the try and repair feature but the keyboard function was completely dead so I could not click onto advance repair to at lease do a system restore as I have restore points. Now I am stuck with a drive that was severely corrupted by Microsoft latest update and I refuse to install this update on any of my other devices running the latest windows 10 1809 version. I am reporting this as I can't get a reply to my incident Number 1455484561 initiate by support agent John N. I have heard all the horror stories from other user about not being able to access their systems but this Is the first time it has happened to me. I can't start the USB Drive even when I go to Setup and place it as a boot device in the list as I get a message about can't find operating system. I am completely frustrated and I want Microsoft to fix this problem which Is not of my doing. I have scheduled a call back from Microsoft on 1/9/2019 but I hope a solution can be given cause I can't access my drive to even do a reset or repair which I should not have to do.

Programs not working


In post 26 there were steps listed to fix the operating system corruption.
Are you able to follow them?
In post 29 was the suggested dism repair command.

 

Windows Updated(16299.309).KB4088776 Restart is required to complete.


Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:

• Open WinRAR application in your system.
• Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
• A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
• Now click Open button.
• Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
• Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
• Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
• Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
• WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.

I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.
