Windows 10: Cortana web searches not opening

Discus and support Cortana web searches not opening in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; Does it still do this when you have Microsoft Edge set as your default web browser?     When I type, for example, "google.com" in Cortana, I get the results shown below, but clicking on google.com or "see all web results" doesn't do anything.

    This has been the case since I installed this Releases · da2x/EdgeDeflector · GitHub (so that the searches would open in Chrome), but ended up uninstalling it.

    Cortana web searches not opening

    Cannot search for files,control panel i Cortana in Windows 10

    Original Title: Using Cortana

    On my PC, no matter what I type into Cortana, it gives me a web search result. I've tried to search for files, open the control panel, go to the C drive, I've even asked it to tell me a joke. Everything results in a web search.

    On my laptop, Cortana will open a command prompt or the control panel, but won't tell me a joke or open the C drive or search for a folder.

    I don't need Cortana for web searches, and it's easy enough to open a command prompt or the control panel without her. If she can't search my computer, I'm not sure what she's good for.

    Is mine installation just broken? Can this be repaired?

    Unfortunately this didn't work. It works for Explorer (turn optimize on / set register to 1), but when I turn it off / set to 0, I get the situation I described earlier.

    Cortana web searches not opening

    I was facing similar issues with cortana sometime back. After a couple of windows updates it has now become stable.
