It's more the lack of apps, rather than the lack of phones. Just look at Pokemon Go, no plans to be on Windows Phone.

It's a combination of both the selection of phones and the lack of apps. Even though there are limited choices of phones and apps I'm very happy with my Windows phone (Lumia 640XL). I was thinking about upgrading my phone to a newer model but My Lumia is working so good I decided to wait. I do hope this turns around and we start seeing more selections of phones and apps.

  3. Yes, I know all about it, I've tried it out several times. It bears absolutely no resemblance to any other version of Windows 10 though. And takes quit a bit of work to just run an App on it. Have you run it or seen it in action? There is no web browser etc, not even Edge. Just very basic GUI. No Store, no nothing?

What I'd like to see, is 10 Mobile ported to run on the Pi. Like it does on any other mobile device. A fully functional Windows 10, not the striped down to nothing IoT version. The Pi uses an ARM processor, like start phones do, so it should be doable. I don't have the coding skills to do anything with 10 IoT. I wish I did, but I don't.

XBOX is the same way, limited selection of Apps. I'm hoping this push towards universal Apps brings more Windows Apps to XBOX.
I'm mulling over getting a Windows phone. If a good deal comes up while I have the cash I'll likely buy one. It's not something I need to have so its not a priority. More of a it would be nice to have.

  5. Actually Google is in the process of making a replacement for Android. There are hints on github for a project Fuchsia, which ironically sounds suspiciously like a BB10/QNX clone.

Just saying though, it is what it is. All these popular games come out for Android and Apple, not for Windows mobile.

Windows wins in one regard, and in this, Android and Linux are a close second, though android only from the mobile side of things.... You can run windows on just about anything. I can slap a machine together using parts I have laying around in my basement, and chances are about 100% certain, I will be able to run some version of windows on it. That's it though. That's all they got. There is a huge backlog of legacy applications that are tied to Windows true, but when it comes to modern apps, and which platform is better to develop on, Windows is sucking these days.

Android and IOS are leagues ahead of them in this regard, and I think the gap is big enough that they may not catch up. This post would be better titled, could Android be the future of Windows?, not the other way around..
