    CPU Not Supported

Have Windows 7 sp1 and Windows 10 Build 10240 in dual boot.
On trying to upgrade windows 7, error message: Your CPU is not supported.
Have Intel Core2duo E7500 @ 2.93 ghz. Coreinfo utility says all NX, PAE & SSE2 are supported and enabled.
Window 10 preview has all along been running smoothly through various builds.
    Please help

    :)

windows 10 supported CPU, Not NX supported?

so I have a slightly old notebook. But it does meet the system requirements to what I know of.

    my specs are below..

    CPU

    Intel Celeron T3000

    Cores 2

    Threads 2

    Name Intel Celeron T3000

    Code Name Penryn

    Package Socket P (478)

    Technology 45nm

    Specification Celeron Dual-Core CPU T3000 @ 1.80GHz

    Family 6

    Extended Family 6

    Model 7

    Extended Model 17

    Stepping A

    Revision R0

    Instructions MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSSE3, Intel 64, NX

(only issue i see is that 478 is an old socket type and some older processors using this socket dont support nx mine does though?)

    RAM

    3.00GB Dual-Channel DDR2 @ 398MHz (5-6-6-18)

    GPU

Intel Mobile Intel 4 Series Express Chipset Family (Fujitsu Siemens Computer)

(i know its terrible.. damn notebooks)

    HDD

    300gb SATA drive

I've updated everything.. Including the bios. the bios is limited with no way to enable non-execute bit which is my main problem

(the bios is phoenix award eek)

I've contacted fujitsu-siemens with no avial. Only option I've come to is taking the gamble to flash the bios.. but i would much rather not.

is there any suggestions on where to go next? can someone definetly confirm that my proccessor does support win 10.

    Currently running Win 7 OEM.

But when I do a clean install on another partition in same machine, it goes without hitch. Windows 10 gets installed and is ACTIVATED. But will it be a permanent activation or will expire after 15.10.2015.
Problem occurs on upgrading my licensed Windows 7 SP1 installation with message: CPU not supported

  6. I think you have a preview install on the other partition and this will expire.

Please follow this tutorial to provide the current operating environment of your machine.
Speccy - Publish Snapshot of your System Specs

Members can then look at the Speccy to see if anything stands out.

The first thing I suggest is to make it easy on the upgrade.

Get the machine to a simple base
    • one drive, no external devices other than Monitor, Mouse and Keyboard.
    • If you over clock, reset to the default clock.
    • Establish a Clean Startup - basically disable all 3rd party items on the msconfig Services and Startup tabs
Do NOT disable MS service - make sure the hide MS services checkbox is selected before you press the disable all button
See: Troubleshoot Application Conflicts by Performing a Clean Startup - Windows 7 Help Forums
    • and Lastly, see if there is a BIOS update

I have no idea why these things would change the install flagging the CPU as unsupported, but they are basic trouble shooting.
    Thanks

    CPU Not Supported

I found a solution which has worked and upgraded from windows 7 sp1 to windows 10 today.

    Instead of running regular setup,
    Browse to Local Disk (C*Smile> $Windows.~WS > Sources > Windows > Sources
    Double click the setupprep.exe file.

After running for some time advised to uninstall
    1. Microsoft Virtual PC 2007
    2. Daemon Pro Tools.

    Meanwhile kept installer running

After hitting refresh button, the upgradation from Windows 7 SP1 to Windows 10 was flawless and smooth.
