  1. Crash Errors

Hello, I am new here - I am doing an update for Windows 10.

I have used ReImage and the following has shown:

    - Cypress Track Pad has crashed
    - Microsoft - immerserv - shell has crashed

I have installed all of the driver updates and new drivers from the Dell Driver & Downloads site.

Can someone please let me know what the two crashes are. I am able to use the Laptop with no problems, or
at least no problems before I did all the updating - here's hoping no problems will continue.

    :)

  2. script errors cause crash or lagging

    Hi Rob,

Thank you for posting your query on Microsoft Community.
We understand how you feel about the situation. We're sorry for the trouble this has caused.

Please answer these queries below, for a better understanding of your issue:
    • Is this issue occurs on other Internet browsers?
    • Is this issue occurs on specific web pages?

When you receive script errors, webpages may not be displayed or work correctly in Internet Explorer. The script errors may have various causes.

This problem occurs because the HTML source code for the webpage does not work correctly with client-side script such as Microsoft JScript or Microsoft Visual Basic script. This problem may occur for one or more of the following reasons:

    • A problem exists in the HTML source code of the webpage.

    • Active scripting, ActiveX controls, or Java programs are blocked on your computer or on the network. Internet Explorer or another program, such as antivirus programs or firewalls, can be configured to block Active scripting, ActiveX controls, or Java programs.

    • Antivirus software is configured to scan your "Temporary Internet Files" or "Downloaded Program Files" folders.

    • The scripting engine on your computer is corrupted or outdated.

    • Internet-related folders on your computer are corrupted.

    • Your video card drivers are corrupted or outdated.

    • The DirectX component on your computer is corrupted or outdated.

For more information, refer to the Microsoft article link below and check, if it works.

I would suggest you to follow these methods below and check, if it helps.

    Method 1:

    1. Click on internet options on IE browser.

    2. Then go to Advanced section, uncheck “display a notification of every script error”, click on apply and okay.

    3. Close and open a new window,

If the issue still persists, follow method 2.

    Method 2:

    1. Click on internet options on IE browser.

    2. Then Go to the security section,

    3. Under Custom level button, scroll down near the bottom and disable xss filter, apply and okay.

I would like to inform you that, you need to login to the PC using the Microsoft Account, to check, if that helps.

Also, I suggest you to install any pending updates on the PC to check, if that helps. Updates are additions to software that can help prevent or fix problems, improve how your computer works, or enhance your computing experience.

Also, I suggest you to ensure to have the date, time and time zone set correctly along with the installation of pending updates.

You can reset Internet Explorer settings to return them to the state they were in when Internet Explorer was first installed on your PC.

Let’s try to refer to the Microsoft article link below and check, if it works.

    Crash Errors

Hi, unless there is a particular problem you need to solve, you should not trouble to try to update your basic drivers manually.

Where did you get your drivers from? What is the URL?
There are sites that seem to be manufacturer sites for drivers when you search for them.

What exactly did you update? The drivers as you say... did you also do a Windows update or an upgrade?
Can you list the updates you made?

Please post a screenshot of your Update History.

    To clarify: Have you
    - upgraded Win 10 to the latest build?
    - upgraded to Win 10 for the first time?

I would uninstall the TrackPad driver, reboot and let Windows reinstall it.
Or, if you can roll back the driver and know the previous version was ok, you could try that.

Please complete your system specs to include your disk(s).
    By way of routine checks:
Download and run Hard Disk Sentinel (trial) and post a screenshot.
To post a screenshot please use the Insert Image icon above your post to the left of the video icon. Then Browse to your image, select it and upload it. E.g. png, jpg. Thanks.

From an admin command prompt run
    SFC /SCANNOW
and post the result (the summary, not the whole log)

    - was that a BSOD? If so, your post needs to be referred to the BSOD section of the forum.

    Thanks.

  5. I am using a differant computer to post (a Mac actually). I went to the Dell site>drivers&downloads>Drive Doctor>, I did a scan and it showed me 5 drivers that require updates - I went ahead and paid for 1-year and it gave me the updates for the drivers.

I have been using Windows 10 Home Edition for over a year, an update keeps coming up atomatically telling me I need security updates before I can get the Windows update - then the download starts, I'm not sure if it's downloading security updates or Windows updates - in any case after the download the install begins but never finishes - I get a message that - "unable to configure for update" I have no idea what it means. I have ran Re-image several times and it shows nothing wrong.

-that's not an official DELL site, is it? Drivers from manufacturers are available for free download. However, they may well not be available for Win 10 if the PC is older.
    What's the URL? (Internet address)

Please follow the instructions I've already given for starters to establish a base line. Thanks.

  7. Here is the URL for the drivers Driver Doctor - Download Device Drivers | Update Drivers and Fix Driver Problems, this was a link in the Dell site on the page that showed all the different drivers. I have run the Hard Disk Sentinal and the report shows "Perfect, no action required". The Windows 10 Assistant t window keeps popping up and is running in the background. I am now posting from the Dell Laptop. I'm not sure how to find out which drivers were updated.

  8. Crash Errors

I am now in the Dell Support site Support for Inspiron 15 M5010 | System configuration | Dell US

and I'm using the Diagnostic tool. I'm also going to try the System Configuration tool. I do that the drivers are for BIOS, Windows 7, 64-bit, & Windows Vista, 64-bit. Nothing for Windows 10. I've been searching for the Dell site I found last night that had the DriverDr link.

  9. This is the site that I got the DriverDr link from: Dell Inspiron Drivers Download and Update for Windows 10, 8, 7, XP and Vista, I realize now that this is not an official Dell site. I was using the Dell Laptop, it was very late at night/early morning and I was a bit frustrated - so I apparently screwed up.

I did go the Official Dell site and used the diagnostic toll - it said every think was good.

I think you should consider a clean install. Download the latest Win 10 iso and create a bootable disk.
Tutorials in the tutorial section explain how to do both if you need guidance.

Do you have backups? Would a clean install be an acceptable way to go?
I don't want to try to hit a moving target.

It is highly recommended that all drivers are installed from the Dell website. Second choice for drivers if they are not available on the Dell website are from the component manufacturers like Intel, Nvidia, etc. If you use 3rd party websites you don't know what you are getting. We have had many with BSOD. We recommend that they uninstall all of the 3rd party drivers. And if they cannot do that then a clean install.

The component manufacturers make drivers for many computer manufacturer's and then the computer manufacturers may modify the drivers. So it's always best to go directly to the computer manufacturer for drivers.

  13. By a clean install, do you mean erase the entire HD?

The laptop is a DEll Inspirion 15m501 (2011) that came with Windows 7, if I erase the HD - how do I go back online and get Windows 10?

If your Windows occupies the whole of your hard disk, yes.
If you have created other partitions, those remain.

A clean install means just Windows, no programs other than those that come with it. All partitions (4 for an EFI installation) are replaced.

    Back up your data... then
you first download the iso, create a bootable disk, then boot your PC from that disk.

    get an iso:
    Download Windows 10 ISO File
create bootable disk: (or you could burn a DVD if you have a DVD drive)
Create Bootable USB Flash Drive to Install Windows 10
how to do a clean install:
    Clean Install Windows 10

Please feel free to search the extensive tutorials:
    Windows 10 Tutorial Index Tutorials

If your BIOS supports it, you could use EFI rather than MBR, and GPT disk format.
