    Crashes (restarts) when gaming

    Hello there,
First of all I'll link my specs:
    Motherboard: ASRock 960GM-GS3 FX
CPU: AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.40GHz
    GPU: MSI NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 2GB GDDR5 128bit GAMING 2G
    RAM: KINGSTON KVR16N11S8/4, 4GB DDR3, 1600MHz
    PSU: Chieftec SMART Series GPS-600A8
    HDD: Western Digital 1TB WD10EZEX 7200 RPM
    SSD: Kingston SSDNow UV400 120GB
    New motherboard: GIGABYTE GA-970A-DS3P FX
And now my problem. For the last 2 months I've been having problems with my computer (at first I had random freezes - had to restart my computer for it to work again, for a few hours it would work fine then the problem would appear and it would be so frequent after the first appearence that I could not use my pc at all - it restarts even when the windows is loading - no BSOD). I went with my computer to a service for a diagnosing. They said it was probably the motherboard or maybe the CPU(5% chance which I don't think it is the problem). After that I bought a new motherboard. Thought my problems would be fixed but apparently they weren't.
Now instead of freezes my pc automatically restarts. When I had some time I went to another service. They said it was the RAM cause one had a higher frequency than the other (one was 1600 and the other 1333). The diagnosing was free, so I didn't complain much(tipped'em anyway). I already tried using only one memory, use a different slot, etc etc but not after I bought the new motherboard so I thought, maybe that's it, maybe I ommited that but I didn't. For now I'm using my old MB/CPU/RAM, a dual core Intel (3Ghz) and 4GB RAM (DDR2) with the same SSD/HDD/Power supply. It works fine.
I've tried from time to time to test it again and do some stuff myself but couldn't fix it. At the moment I'm using the 1333 RAM only. Whenever I'm playing something the computer crashes. It runs fine for 2-3 hours then it restarts frequently. I can reproduce the problem if I run 3DMark - Fire Strike, in ~1 minute it crashes.

I'd love some help, I'm tired of this problem.

    :)

  2. Windows store DCOM issue causing games to not start and instantly crash.

I keep getting DCOM server issues when trying to start windows 10 store games. Temporary fix I found is to download a random app and then launch the game but after awhile the game will crash and then when I try to restart it it will instantly crash until
I re-download another app. I checked the event viewer and it is related to the dcom server.

  3. Bad_Module_Info

I have the same issue but with Fortnite. When I start Fortnite there is no problem and I can play a few matches but then suddenly my game crashes and this "bad_module_info" comes up. After that I just restart the game and I can play normally again but
it is very frustrating when you have a good game and your game crashes. Sometimes it happens one more time after that but that is very rarely.

    Crashes (restarts) when gaming

Hello CristiX21 and welcome to TenForums *Smile

Having two different types of RAM is definitely a major cause of crashes especially if they are being used in the Dual Memory mode.

It would be helpful if you posted the logfiles from the beta log_collector at the end of the BSOD Posting instructions, do this for the system that crashes. Download the file, extract it to a new folder and then run the log_collector. It will create a zip file on your desktop which you can upload to your next post.

I'm sorry, I think I posted to the wrong section. I'm at work atm. This was the closest section to crashes. Maybe I should of posted in Hardware. I'm not getting any BSODs. The computer just restarts.

It's OK we can continue to help. A BSOD sometimes causes an automatic restart if the restart option is ticked in settings. I have mine unticked - see below.

Other causes of restarts can be the PSU failing or voltage fluctuations. The logs may help reveal where to look next.

    Thank you for your reply!

Yeah, I have that unticked, did that a few days ago. I've tried looking at logs in Event Viewer, didn't notice anything suspicious. I don't know what to look for exactly but from what I know I did not notice anything suspicious.

Yeah, I thought about that but I don't know why the same PSU works with my old parts (MB/CPU/RAM). Maybe it's cause the parts that I'm using right now are consuming more power.. I'll try borrowing one if I can find someone. I've tried unplugging the case coolers but nothing changed. The last part that I've changed was the stock cooler (was too loud) with Scythe Shuriken rev. B. Maybe that helps as well.
