Creating a fresh backup image weekly - Macrium Reflect

    Windows 10 Home v1909

Used MR to create a backup image a month or so ago.

Today I tried to create a fresh image backup, think it would overwrite the existing image with new files etc or wipe the Caddy HD clean to create a new image. But it told me I had run out of space creating a new image alongside the existing.

Tried googling how to create a fresh image of the OS partition.

Do I have to delete the previous image to create a fresh image and can I setup a auto weekly image backup.

    thanks

    :)

Restoring Windows 10 Image using Macrium Reflect

In addition to the above. Here's my suggestion in step by step.
I assume you have Macrium Installed in your current HD and already made a backup copy.
    1. Connect your new HD via USB port and boot up.
    2. Run Macrium, click on Restore tab then select the Backup Image that you made to restore
    3. click on "select a different target disk" then select your new HD as destination

    4. Proceed to restore then Shutdown and disconnect the old HD and replace with the new HD
    5. Boot up with your new HD.

  3. Can I create system image backup on a system image backup?

    Hi Gerald,

I am Sumit, an Independent Advisor and a 2-Year Windows Insider MVP here to help.

As system Image backup feature is deprecated and newer releases are released, chances of it working correctly go down as per time. Technically what you are writing is possible though if the feature fully works.

I suggest you to create system Images using Macrium Reflect which offers more flexible options and is freeware.
