    Creators Update Broke Edge

    Something new...

I've just installed Windows 10 on a new PC... it's the version 1703 - 15063.0 downloaded directly from Microsoft.

On first run of Edge, it happily visits the default page. But after I set the home page to Google it gives the same error!

Reboot and it loads Google - but cannot set Google as the default search engine and then will not search from the home page.

    Anyone else seen this?

    Hi, FuZZBall,

I found your thread while searching a solution to fix the "INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND" issue. This issue appeared right after I had installed Creators Update. It was limited to the Edge browser only.

I tried some generally proposed solutions such as SFC, DICM, registry cleaning, autoruns, ResetWUEng, reinstalling the browser. Incidentally, some of that was kindly done by MS support team. But, it did not help.

Today I came across the following article that suggested that disabling the TCP Fast Open feature is a way to circumvent this issue: Creators update #2: Microsoft Edge Bearman.nl

Below please see for the way how to disable TCP Fast Open in Edge (an exempt from the article):

    UPDATE 19-04-2017:
As provided by Microsoft the issue can be worked around in two ways until they release a fix:
Type about:flags in the address bar. Scroll down to the Networking section (near the bottom) and uncheck Enable TCP Fast Open, then restart the browser

I hope this will help in your case too.

Thanks - I'll make a record of that.

I've actually been error free for the past three days - with no idea why!

It's just decided to work again.

Also fixed the problem with Edge not allowing Google as the default search on the new installation too...

You visit Google so Edge finds Google as a search option, then go to any other site, then choose Google as the default in the Advanced options.

For some reason it won't allow selection if you are on the Google page. *Banghead

  4. Creators Update Broke Edge

As of today, Edge stopped working here. I found out that it is caused by my UAC notification settings, set to Never Notify. Any other setting will make Edge work again. As we know, no Apps will work with UAC disabled. However, I never disabled UAC (via registry etc.), just its notifications via Control Panel and it was never an issue with Edge.

All other Apps still work, it's just Edge. I tried to reset Edge, and will try sfc /scannow. If this a new thing though, it will make Edge completely useless for me and many others (not that it was of much use, but that's another story).

  5. I've tried everything and I still cannot use Edge (UAC enable, Edge Cache Clearing, Edge full reset/reinstall, sfc/dism ) and getting INET_E_RESOURCE_NOT_FOUND for every website. All other browsers including IE11 work just fine. Here are the EventViewer log entries:

Unfortunately I cannot go back to the old version since I've deleted Windows.old and Windows~BT folders and I'm stuck with Creators Update.

  7. Thanks.

Reinstalling Windows is not an option at the moment since it would be really time consuming to setup everything back. I do not use Edge on a day by day basis so I can live without it until Microsoft decides to throw a fix for this this issue.

Same for me, since I installed Creator Update, it blocks most Microsoft websites and Outlook 365 exchange connexion. MS support partially fixed the issue by....installing Chrome!!! It worked eventually for a few days until it occurred again. I did a clean install but still same issue, so I am now stuck with Creator Update...

However, I discovered that if I untick the IPV6 setting on my internet connexion settings, it works fine!!!

But it seems to create issues with my homegroup (?)

I did find this with Edge. I had exported by Bookmarks from Chrome to the Desktop. I valiantly imported Chrome Bookmarks from that file. Three times I did that and each time the folders or at least some of them were empty. I therefore deleted that there Bookmarks and imported directly from Chrome itself. This time all went well.
Still, there does not seem to be any logical reason why importing from the Bookmarks File on my Desktop shouldn't work but it didn't. Any idea as to why it would not?

I do not have the networking section in Edge.

If you are referring to post 8 in this thread, click Windows icon (lower left), Settings (gear) and Network/Internet.

Also, suggest you provide more detail on your exact issue.

This relates to Edge, but not your specific problem. I can't use Edge when accessing my BofA website, specifically the 'Shop Safe' section. That portion doesn't load properly. However, both Chrome and the new Firefox will work fine. I made sure that flash is enabled in Edge. No big deal since I can use either of the other two browsers. I still like Edge, anyhow.

  14. I went on a vacation, thus the late response while trying to get EDGE working again. Have tried most of the suggestions, cannot find where to turn off IPV6.
