Installing the Latest NVIDIA drivers bring back the double boot logo like back in Version 1511.

I'm having tons of problems with the Creators update. Yet I tried installing Windows updates and it bricked my system. Wouldn't boot anymore, causing me to do a clean install. I'm lucky I backed up all of my games and files.

I'm doing some tests to make sure it's not my WD Blue drive failing. If I have the same symptoms on my spare drive, then I'm possibly having a different hardware issue.

I've upgraded 3 PCs, and mine was the only one that had issues. The other two work perfect without issues, except the small little bugs that most have mentioned here.

I'm constantly having driver issues and registry issues. I'll install a program and in the programs and features, or the Apps feature in settings, and if I click to uninstall the program, it will either say the program doesn't exist, launch the wrong program, or say the program was already uninstalled.

On the other 2 PCs, there are no issues with this.

It will suck if something's failing on my PC, but I guess it's troubleshooting time

  3. 2. Known bug, reported in Insider Feedback Hub. MS Engineer has responded: "...working on it...will be fixed in next update...".
Also, single or double-clicking taskbar icon does noting. Right-click & Open does work.

    Defender has been "enhanced".

Some of my fonts in certain programs like Autoruns even dialog boxes in windows like System Restore are blurry and give me a headache. Yes I ran the clear type tuner and I updated my Intel 4600 video drivers. Nothing works except going back to the anniversary update.

Spotted on upgrade, in IE. I have 3 IEs on my pc, wifes, daughters and mine.

I noted in my spyware findings that there were three always in IE, but nowhere else. (None of us use IE).

So, after having a go at my spyware maker for not picking them up. I went into my IE and added them to my blacklist, all three were from same ad scumbag. Then I ran spyware and it still found them so I checked wifes IE, yep, they were in there too but not blacklisted so did so, and still - so daughters IE was on and blacklisted them again. 3 desktops, 3 sets of IE, 3 sets of spies.

Did a run this morning and nothing was reported, not holding my breath though, yet.

I also forgot I did all of those useless junk that useless Google gave me. Running that outdated XPExplorer and right clicking on the shortcut and disabling override high DPI yet even in that menu the fonts are blurry. None of them worked and I wasted about four hours.

    Well, you guys are correct......

Did a clean install on the new CrossHair VI AMD board........input a Win 8 key I have from my TechNet days; windows 10 installed and immediately came back "Activated"........

I will add that the Clean Install is much faster, cleaner and less troublesome than the update was and the update was pretty easy to begin with...

FYI, I just did a clean install on my laptop and used the generic 10 pro key and Windows installed and activated no problem. Do note however, this was a previously activated Windows 10 Pro machine before. Before that Windows 8 Pro.

Anyway I used the generic key because the last time I did a clean install (Anniversary upgrade) for some odd reason when ticking "I don't have a key", Home got installed despite the fact that the machine had Pro prior to the upgrade! Had to use my previous Win 8.1 key to get Pro back. This time I just used a generic key and Pro was installed and activated.

    Just FYI.
    Peace *Cool

  10. In the past, if a PC had a Windows 8 OEM embedded key, it would be used automatically. On my laptop 10 Home was auto installed with no choice in the matter. It has an 8 Core OEM Embedded key. Now with 1703, those keys are ignored. I get prompted for a key now and can either enter one, or skip entering a key and select whet version I want to install from the menu. In the past I just added a PID.txt file with the Pro generic key in it. That overrides auto key detection and installs Pro. I'll likely keep doing it anyway as it speeds things up. No key prompt or having to select Pro from the menu.

When I did the clean install of Creator, I didn't get to choose which version of Windows; At the PID screen I was asked to provide a key and I used the generic key and 10 Pro was installed. That how my process went on this laptop. YMMV *Smile

  12. Key prompt comes first, if you click "I don't have one" the next screen asks what version to install. If you enter a key, you never see the selection screen, the key entered makes the selection. *Wink
