Credential Manager Will Not Remember ANY Passwords

I upgraded my Windows 10 Pro to version 2004 several weeks ago. Starting last week I noticed that credential manager has stopped remembering ALL passwords, including those not associated with Microsoft. I read several threads about this issue, but was unable to find a resolution in any of these.

    Things that I have tried:

    1. Running the sfc /scannow and Dism /Online /Cleanup-Image /RestoreHealth commands from the command prompt. This seems to temporarily fix the issue, but after a few reboots, the credential manager starts forgetting again.

    2. Going to start...then settings...then accounts...then sign-in options...then require sign is checked NEVER...then at bottom of same page, restart app is ON...then both privacy questions are ON

    3. Switching my account from Local to Microsoft. I was unable to complete this because MS doesn't recognize my email address. That being said, I have no trouble logging on the MS website using the same email address to access my apps and OneDrive. I do not believe this is the issue because my computer has been configured this way for at least 3 years with no problems.

    4. Running the tool to repair Office through both methods quick and online

    5. Removing the Vault folder and adding it back

    6. Removing all credentials and letting the system add them back after a reboot I completed this step after every resolution listed above.

I believe the issue lies with the update to the 2004 version of Windows 10 Pro. Unfortunately, this did not start happening until more than a week after I installed the 2004 version so I cannot roll back to the previous version.

Any help would be most appreciated. This has been going on for the past several days.

    :)

    Managing Credentials with no password

I am referring to the CREDENTIAL MANAGER - which, as I am logged in to my laptop - with NO user name / password (I chose to bypass this at build) - doesn't let me view MY OWN list of passwords !!!

How do I view MY OWN password list ?

Also - why was the response above - marked as THE ANSWER ?

It was NOT the answer and I feel that in assuming that it was the answer is PRESUMPTUOUS !!

    I have removed this assumption....

    Managing Credentials with no password

How do I access my password list - when I am running my PC without any Windows login or password ?

I have built my laptop using Windows 10 / 64 - without the need/requirement for any login or password

In order to see a Web Credentials password, you are required to enter a Windows credentials password - which I do not have (because I have built the PC without the requirement for such a login) .....(although I have tried my Hotmail login - which gives me
access to email but fails to give me access to Web credentials)

What can I do to view my password list ?

And Eashwar Kumar - rather weirdly (for an IT pro) asked me the following - yesterday

    1. I am referring to the passwords held in the CREDENTIAL MANAGER (in the control panel)

    2. I am referring to ALL of my passwords

    3. The Credential Manager is independent of browser !

    Managing Credentials with no password

    Hello,

Thank you for bringing up your query on Microsoft Community.

    • What are you referring to? When you say “using no user account and therefore no password ?”
You can use Credential Manager to store credentials, such as user names and passwords that you use to log on to websites or other computers on a network.

    To access Windows Credentials follow:

    Control Panel >
    All Control Panel Items
    > Credential Manager.

Kindly let us know if you need any further assistance. We are happy to assist you.
