Windows 10: Ctrl key stuck on even when keyboard unplugged

Hi there, I’m stumped. Two weeks ago, my computerstarting behaving odd:

-my mouse wheel was zooming apps in and out

-when working on text documents the last thing I had copiedwould suddenly paste infinitely

-none of my letters worked to type

-when I started to look on the internet, someone saidopen the OSK so I did and find that when I press one Ctrl key or the other onthe keyboard, both Ctrl keys on OSK are depressed.

-This happens every time I start my computer

-If I push the power button on my PC and reboot it thatway several times I can usually get about 10min of use before the Ctrl keycomes on


What I’ve learned since is that when I turn on mycomputer, I get anywhere from 10 seconds to 5 minutes of usable keyboard beforeboth control keys show as stuck down on the OSK and my computer.


Here’s my computer specifications:

-Custom built about 5 years ago

-Mobo: Asus ROG Maximus Hero X

-CPU: Intel Coffee Lake i7-8700K @ 3.7GHz

-SSD: Samsung Evo 850 1TB

-RAM: 16GM GSkill Ripjaw DDR4

-OS: 64bit Windows 10 Home version 20H2 on build19042.746 installed on 2021-01-20

-GPU: Nvidia 1080ti

-Keyboard: Logitech G910


Here’s what doesn’t work to fix the problem:

-Check that they key isn’t being accidentally depressedby something

-Unplug and replug keyboard, including into a differentUSB port both on the back and front of the case

-Remove both Ctrl keys and clean using compressed air aswell as a general blowout of the whole keyboard

-Verified “gaming mode” is off

-Test alternative keyboard Logitech G413

-Ctrl+Alt+Del+Esc

-Press both Ctrl keys at the same time and hold for 10seconds

-Rapidly press both Ctrl keys repeatedly

-remove, reinstall and update keyboard driver in devicemanager

-Uninstall and reinstall the Logitech G keyboard software

-Turn off stick keys and all keyboard relatedaccessibility settings

-Turn off the depressed keys in the OSK

-Download 3rd party software to disable theCtrl key in the registry

-System restore to last know good configuration beforeproblems began

-Windows system recovery soft format, keep files

-Windows system recovery soft format, remove files

-Create windows recovery / boot media and use it torepair windows

-Quick format of SSD and fresh install of Windows 10

-Secure erase of SSD and fresh install of Windows 10

-Boot in clean boot mode

-Boot in safe mode with networking

-Boot in safe mode without networking

-Perform Windows reset

-Removed RGB lighting software

-Logged in and out of windows

-Cleared BIOS and reset to recommended defaults

-Cleared CMOS

-Updated BIOS version


I’ve seen one other post with a similar issue and it wasliked by 13 others who had the same question. I’m hoping that we can get a fixhere and that this can be a master thread for anyone dealing with this sameissue.


I’m not sure what else to do. Any advice?

Ctrl key on German QWERTZ keyboard?

A while ago my dad bought a netbook online from Germany, we found out it did not have a QWERTY but a QWERTZ keyboard

We are not used to use this keyboard, where are the Ctrl keys, to copy/paste and such?
This keyboard has other keys that we never had/used before like alt-gr and str*Confused

Mystery "stuck key" issue

Yes, we've swapped keyboards and ensured that the first keyboard was unplugged from the computer but the issue persists.

 

Ctrl Key is stuck!

Hi everyone, i have a problem in which i cant type anything with my current keyboard without holding the "1" Numpad key or the "a" key, anything i type without holding one of those keys results in a action if i was holding down the ctrl key.

Things i have tried:

- restarting my computer numerous times

- unpluging ang replugging both keyboard and mouse

- changing keyboard and mouse usb ports

- replugging usb pins into my motherboard

- uninstalling devices from device manager program and restarting windows

- turned off sticky keys, filter keys, and everything inside ease of access

- tried tapping, holding ctrl, whch doesnt do anything

- tapped, and holded both ctrl keys

- pressed ctrl+alt+delete which restores functionality for a couple of seconds and goes back to the problem

- tried a different keyboard and same problem remains

when i open my onscreen keyboard it shows both left and right ctrl pressed.
