  2. 2020 and ctrl-z problem deleting folders continues

Ctrl+Z will undo the previous action, e.g.

    • When you insert a text into a Word document then Ctrl+Z will undo the insertion.
    • When you create a formula in a spreadsheet then Ctrl+Z will remove the formula.

It seems you expect Ctrl+Z to ask the user whether he really wants to undo the most recent action. This would constitute a major change of philosophy.

  3. Ctrl+Z Windows Explorer

Windows Explorer and Undo and Redo commands permanently deleted important files without prompting the user.

    WINDOWS 11 N PRO

I have a folder (let's call it "current") unto which I have a program automatically dumping files.

I moved the original files named (a1, a2, a3,..) into a "old" folder.

Had the program generate new (a1, a2, a3,...) files into the "current" folder. (This took about 8h to render)

Once the new files were generated, while working on another software I accidently pressed Ctrl+Z while the folder was active.

The old files in "old" were moved back into "current", replacing the freshly generated files (without prompting the user with the usual (replace, ignore function)).

Cancelling "Ctrl+Z" simply moves the old files back into "old", leaving my "current" folder empty.

In the end, all my work has been completely lost, as it was replaced by the previous iteration instead of being deleted. (as such it is not present in the recycling bin)

This is to put it bluntly an asinine implementation of these commands.

Is there a way to recover my lost files?

Is there a way to disable this feature?

    This is completely unacceptable.

    Ctrl+Z Windows Explorer

Ctrl+Z not working in any application Windows 10

Ctrl+Z (undo) doesn't work in any application. I.E., doesn't work in ms paint, notepad, etc.

I don't think it's a hardware issue because ctrl+c etc work, just ctrl+z doesn't work. Also, I was able to manually use Ctrl+Z as shortcuts in other applications. I tried making Ctrl+Z the shortcut for GeForce Experience Overlay and it worked fine.

Any suggestions on how to find which application might be hijacking ctrl+z?

Could it be a registry issue?

Did this hotkey lose priority somehow?

I tried starting in safe mode / clean boot and it didn't help.
