The KB3140743 update is causing the "These results may be incomplete..." search error for any new user profiles created after the update. This happens for both domain and local accounts however any existing profiles appear to be unaffected by the update. To resolve this I had to uninstall the update and recreate the profiles.

  5. I know quite a few of us are reporting trouble free installation (myself included) of this cumulative update and the ones that went before. But it is alarming the amount of posts that report troubles trying to install or issues immediately after such as the one where the user can no longer bring up the start menu. It strikes me the quality assurance on these updates is pretty below par from MS and they are pushing out stuff too quickly. I don't know what to think about it all, I want bugs squashed (more than new features that's for sure) but I really don't fancy playing Russian roulette with PC every other week. It just feels like MS and Apple are in some sort of race to push update after update for some kind of bragging rights regardless of whether an update is known to contain to some glaring bugs. MS only recently pushed out a bad update for office 365 where it has caused mails to be deleted from the server regardless of account setup if you are running pop3. A lack of QA testing again. It just worries me for the future as updates gather pace and features, features, features take precedence whilst bugs gather and we wait, wait and wait some more to see if they register high enough on the MS scale to fix them or give any attention to. Trouble is I get the impression they are so desperate to add stuff instead of worrying too much about bugs. Just my thoughts by the way, I know not all will agree with me in this - I just prefer less bugs, better stability over the new. At the moment Windows 10 seems to need a very delicate touch and should the wind change direction whilst in use things can break ...

OK, one more question. I have one floptop still running Win7 Ultimate. Can I install the Win 10 10586 version or do I need to load the 10240 first then go to 10586?

Yes it is ok to go straight to 10586 from Win 7.

If you set it to update automatically the Win 7 install will be upgraded to Win 10 10586.

The ones who are having trouble, are they on upgraded from win8.1 etc. ones, or also on new computers built with Windows 10 on them? *Think

  10. It's been four days since this week's updates were installed and my P.C. is running worse than it did before the updates. Web pages are rendering slowly at times... sometimes sites will time-out while waiting for them to load.

SFC /scan now won't complete... delivers an error at 48%. Avast says that it can't scan some files because they're corrupted... both are CAB DLL's related to Windows Certificates.

Does Microsoft have a trouble-shooter for scanning Windows10 systems yet? Something that will scan the entire Operating System & drivers on the PC, and then pull in fixes, or tell me how to fix what it finds wrong.

If Microsoft has nothing like this, what software would be good to use? Any recommendations?

    Have you tried DISM?

  12. Dear Allen,

A quick solution would be to remove Avast that is the source of your bugs. Make sure you remove it using Revo Uninstaller Pro and decline the Avast pop-up asking to take care of the uninstall process. Delete all files in Revo and run Defender after.

After this operation you can run Ccleaner and then sfc /scannow. I don't remember which one you have to remove first, but I remember that one of them must be delete first. Early in the Insider program, I try Avast and after removing it things were much more better.

Keep in mind that a clean install is always the best solution to get rid once and for all of corrupted files.

    All the best,

P.S.: Don't take it personally because I'm just sharing my 20 some years of experience with you and only try to help. Windows 10 runs much more better under Defender. Believe me, I try them all and made more then 100 installations of Win Ten since last May.
